Trying to find a quote

A while back "Hanoi John" Kerry made a statement to the effect, "There is a place for people that want to own assault rifles, IN the military." Does anyone know the exact wording of that quote and when he said it? I am trying to find it and not having much success. Thank you
Pat

I think was Wesley Clark who said "If they want to have an assault weapon let'em join the army" or something to that affect.

    Dont think Kerry said it.

I'm sure Kerry endorses the message, assuming he didn't say the same thing.

I think it was Wesley Clark who said that about assault weapons. As a soldier he should know, they dont let you own them in the military, they just let you use them. And what about folks who are too old to be in the military? Dont they deserve the right to use assault weapons?lets get AARP involved in this debate.

As soon as they start to let us make more Assault weapons for the public. They stopped in 1986 you know.

I believe Skerry either said it or quoted it in an interview in one of the sporting/hunting magazines. I remember reading it within the last week to ten days. Will try to find it and post any information if I have any luck.

October Field & Stream while being interviewed by Bob Marshall.Page54

Marshall:The NRA has given you an "F" rating throughout your Senate career....

Kerry:"Yeah, because the NRA has a silly kind of methodology that doesn't make any sense.I'm a gun owner.I'm a hunter-I've been a hunter all my life. But I vote for reasonable things.I mean,I just think the Brady Bill is reasonable. They(the NRA)score that a zero.Having assault weapons reasonably regulated is intellegent.I mean,I've never thought about going hunting with an assault weapon of war.If you want to wield one of those then go join the military."
