It's Back! 2nd Amendment Merchandise Store!

robomanroboman Member Posts: 6,436
edited October 2004 in General Discussion
As some of you may or may not remember, around this time last year I created a crappy little Cafepress site dedicated to Second Amendment merchandise. After only staying open for 2 weeks, I decided to call it quits and made about $25.

As you can probably guess my previous effort was entirely lackluster and left quite a bit to be desired.

Now I've relaunched and personally feel it's about 10 times better than the previous one.

I invite each and every one of you to check it out and possibly purchase a thing or two. I'm not in this for the big bucks so the markup is extremely low and the prices quite reasonable. All I need to do to stay afloat is sell about 5 items a month, and I'm sure I can wrangle a few of you into doing that.

Well then, without further adieu, I present the new address (I even threw it in my signature for good measure).

I appreciate any suggestions, comments, or criticisms anyone may have.

Also, sorry for the shameless plug, but I gots to start somewhere! [;)]

Well then...here goes!

It's unfortunate that you gave up so soon last time. You might consider renting a table at a gun show and selling T-shirts, mugs, etc. at the show. Table rents are fairly low in New England, usually $40-$55 for a weekend. You might also put them on ebay or in the gun shop that you work in.

Rory, I can't believe you started a website! Damn boy, you're posting on the biggest gun related site in the world. What are you paying for a website for???

LIST YOUR ITEMS TO SELL ON GUNBROKER. (maybe list some on fleabay)

    Listing on GB:

    1. NO insertion fee.
    2. You only pay a fee if and when your item sells.
    3. Your item automatically relists if it doesn't sell, with no extra charge.
    4. As you sell more and your feedback grows, people will know you're an honest seller, and that will get you more sales.

Having your own website might seem good, but you're depending on buyers to 'find' your site.

On GB, the type buyers you're targeting are already here! List some of what you think would be your hottest things at first, and let me know. I might be your first GB buyer!

    Rebel_James...

The problem is that the way that Cafepress works, I don't physically touch any of the products. I produce the images and provide them, and they use their high-quality printing techniques to produce the product. They deal with the e-commerce side of things and take care of returns, money handling, etc etc. 90% of the price on the items is CafePress' cost to produce the shirts. The rest is a small mark-up for myself.

What I plan on doing is start a number of no reserve auctions for a .01 just to advertise the store on Gunbroker's auctions. Hopefully this isn't against rules...[V]

Looks great, Robo. The "I heart my G3" shirt really piqued my interest. [:D]

One slight suggestion, if I may: You might want to think about making the text and images on the shirts a little bigger. I can't help but wonder if people will be able to read them.

Bullz, I was thinking the same thing myself. But after looking at the picture on the chest, I see that the width of the image is from one side of the neck to the other, with a decent amount of height as well...

I sure hope it will be fine. I was trying to strike a balance between just large enough and not hitting ridiculously loud and annoying...

If anyone would like anything in particular done up (like a special G3 item for you Bullz [:D]) just give me the good word and I'll ger 'er done.

got a typo, under the I love my ar-15 sticker, it reads "ar-16".

Also, I like the "I love" line, but I would REALLY love an AK with a wooden stock instead of a folding one..

but other than that, looks great, make sure you post it on all the other firearm forums.

    Thought it was very good.

    The comment:
    ridiculously loud and annoying...

I'd offer that as an option and charge more.

Can you offer a service that creates a nice image on a T-Shirt from a digital picture furnished by the buyer? Saw someone on ebay selling lots of buttons like that.

What are you thinking? You put that ugly a** Glock on there and don't have an I love my 1911 shirt. You must be kidding. Seriously, if you make a 1911 shirt I'll buy one. What about the Garand,'03,M1 carbine? I guess I'm just an old fashioned kind of guy.

Ruger270Man, thanks for catching the typo. I whipped up a line of AK-47 full stock shirts with the "I Love ___" tag on it. Check it out under the regular I Love section.

Meanie, I did the same thing except with the M4. You can find it under the same section.

Droptop: That's no problem at all. As long as the image you're submitting isn't grossly offensive (that could get me booted from Cafepress) or obviously copywritten I can whip up whatever Cafepress will allow me too. They even have thongs on there! [:0]

Rimfire72: I'll see what I can do for ya...I'll get back to you though [^]

Rimfire, quick update. I've found the images for the 1903, M1 Carbine, Enfield, etc etc, I just need to make them into shirts at the moment. I have to go to work right now so I won't be able to work on it until about 10PM est. I'll let you know when they're up and running however.

Hey Robo, make some bumper stickers, man! Those are what I've been searching for.

In fact, if you want, I can email you a design I made for a bumper sticker. Of course it speaks to my love of mosin nagants, but I'm sure there are many others out there who would want them too.

Nice. But I would love a "I Love My SKS" coffee mug.
You could use the picture of the one below .
