It's dull and predictable. Even the romance, should that be your reason for going, is stale, confounding, and uninspired.

The war scenes are okay, but it's not a war film and some of the sequences would be more at home on MTV than the silver screen.

I'd recommend "Big Fish" if you're looking for a date film or "Master and Commander" if you're looking for a war movie.

    Typical chick flick.

The male is inefectial,a non-entity,and allows his own stupidity to kill him.

I was bored to tears..the female with me loved it.
She is now a old girlfriend...

If you've seen Renee Zellwigger in "Bridget Jones Diary" or "Chicago", you'll be impressed with her range as an actress. I haven't seen the all flicks with Best Supporting Actress nominees but I'd be surprised if Zellwigger didn't win the Oscar this year. Beyond that I would have to say EMM's review is on target. Insipid story at best. Stay home and watch "The History of Sex" on The History Channel instead.

The book was good, not great. I have no idea what the movie is like. Will probably wait until it is out on DVD.

For some who might find it boring:

You have to be in the right mood to enjoy it.

And 0311, you'all got too much of them youthful hormones to sit and enjoy.
Not a criticism, just an observation...

I was "bookworm" in grade school.
The book is usually way better than the movie.
Most good books, when I recall them, replay in my mind as a movie, and at times I'm not sure whether it was the book or a movie.

    Like adventure?

Read Dumas' The Three Musketeers, the Penguin translation. It's a common paperback you can nab for $3.00. Written in the '50's. 1850's, i believe.
