What is it and what are your thoughts or experiences with it? I really want to get a Supermatch 2 bad. They gurantee 2" groups at 25 yds and 3" groups at 50. It's also probably one of the best looking 1911's I've seen. What would be a good deal? I've seen some on here for around 1600.00. Can you get the supermatch 2 with the accessory rail? I haven't seen any with it. Are they worth the money? Thanks

I really like my Kimber Classic Stainless, got a deal on it working at the gunshop-- $450 used. [:p]22925Kimber.jpg
The gun works all the time and shoots where I point it. $1200 to $1600 sounds about right for those higher end Kimbers. I think the TLE is the only Kimber that comes with a rail.

I have several . Love em. I think one of the best made mass production 1911's out there. You can spend a lot more on a custom gun that may shoot better, but, at 2 -4 times the price. Are your abilities up to taking advantage of a 2500 dollar custom piece? Mine arent.

I have 6 Kimber 1911 pistols and IMHO, I think "Cost-to-Quality" with Kimber ends with the Stainless Gold Match ... from what I've read, the Super Match is highly over-rated, *note- I've handled and shot the Super Match but I've never owned one as I've never felt my skill was up to justifing the cost of that pistol, if it was I'd be buying a Wilson or Les Baer ... of which there is one on GB right now for $1575.

Lastly, what clinched it for me is Kimber used to have their own board but they were getting many many complaints from capable shooters of their high-end pistols ... complaints really started rolling in when they came out with the Kimber II line ... I believe that's why they shut their board down.

? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

I have an the old model kimber polymer stainless double stack (14rd). I got it with 3 mags on consignment for $600. I would buy one again in a heart beat. I has a very smooth recoil, great trigger and is accurate, I point, it hits.

I purchased a Kimber Gold Match almost 6 years ago. It have been an excellent firearm. It will shoot under 2" at 25 yards all day long with the right ammo. It has never jammed and remains one of my all time favorite handguns.

I recently purchased a Stainless Target II with the new external extractor. I thought long and hard about it because there seems to be a lot of controversy concerning the Series II's and the external extractor. I am 100% satisfied so far, it has had zero malfunctions so far out of 250 rounds of which 200 were my handloads. The accuracy is right up there with my friends Gold Match, 2" and under at 25 yards when I do my part. The trigger has a fair amount of take up, but is fairly light and crisp after that. I've shot a Gold Match of a friends and talked to a lot of folks who own both the Stainless Target and the Gold Match and many say the accuracy difference between the two is moot, this was my experience too. So, I definately wouldn't pay the extra $ for the top of the line Kimber...

I would think about Springfield's higher end 1911's also. The TRP has been getting very good praises plus I have heard extremely good things about there TGO line, Rob Leatham indorsed.

I have a Stainless Classic LE, Pro Eclipse, Stainless Covert, and an Ultra CDP. They're all great guns, reliable, and very accurate. Despite the fact I like them very much, I don't like the new models with the external extractors. For me, it's a personal thing, kinda like if Harley Davidson went with four cylinder water cooled engines on their bikes. IT DON'T LOOK RIGHT!

I agree the external extractor doesn't look "right" and that's one of the reasons I almost passed on the new Kimbers. I prefer the internal extractor as well and that's why I'm also getting a Dan Wesson 1911, which is a series 70 style, by the way. It'll be a while (a month or so) before I pick it up, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares accuracy/reliability wise with the Kimber...The Dan Wesson's fit and finish is awesome, and the factory trigger on my layaway Dan Wesson is awesome...superior to my Kimber...reliability remains to be seen!

I have 2000 rounds through my Custom CDP and love it. At this point, it shoots as well, if not better, than I am capable of shooting.

I've had a Kimber Pro CarryII, for a bit over two years now. No complaints with the gun. Never a hicup with any rounds (I take that back, a few with wadcutter ammo). For per def imo you cant beat the express style tritium sights, I forget the name as the company has changed names many times, they used to be XS.

I have a Kimber pro carry 11 that is the best shooting out of the box 1911 that I have ever owned. I have fine tuned custom ammo for it and at 50 ft slow shooting with a bench rest I am shooting groups that are 3/8" center to center. For myself that is very good shooting. I want to get that good free hand shooting with it, but I`m sure that will take a lot more practice if I am able to. It is a very enjoyable pistol.
