I think Hastings makes the barrels . Fit a Remington 870. Use subsonic ammo. just a pooof when they fire.

How is that legally different from a silencer? It works on the same principle.

It's probably a convenience thing. A silencer is only a few inches long, so it's easy to conceal and use, whereas a 6+ foot barrel is inconvenient for anything than hunting.

I think its more of a barrel porting job than a silencer.
