Why in the world are these selling for what they are selling for? I have several carbines I paid $100 for many years ago and just don't get it[?]

Because they are the only game in town is my guess. $300-$400 for a new Rossi or Taurus, or you can buy an original that is beat all to hell for $600 and up.
