This Pastor has guts!!
When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the
Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this
is what they heard:
"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and
to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, ' Woe to
those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We
have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our
unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building
self e steem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it
freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called
it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every
sin and set us free. Amen!"
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during
the prayer in protest.
In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is
pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls
responding negatively.
The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this
prayer from India, Africa and Korea. Commentator Paul Harvey aired this
prayer on his radio program, "The Rest of the Story," and received a
larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.

He was mostly right on.
The "Choice" issue is not about womens rights, its about the rights of another person, and if they are considered a person; and also about the right of the federal govt vs state to make laws dealing with it(where is congress given the power to ban abortion, where is congress or the courts given the power to stop a state from banning it)
By the way, the lottery: tax for the stupid, maybe exploiting the stupid, but hey, the gene pool needs chlorine, maybe with all that money they spend on lottery tickets, they will have 1 less kid.
"Shot abortionists and called it justifiable"- This shows hes not so extremist as to think doctors should be killed by vigilantee justice for performing abortions.
He coulda hit on a few more things though, but oh well.
We have poisoned our air and claimed ignorance, just hitting on the fact that the world is running out of oil, and what remains of that oil is all in our atomosphere. Don't claim we are to insignifigant to affect something as huge as the world, after all, then the all our oil fields should still be churning out oil like in WWII because we cant possibly almost entirely empty entire states of oil. All tapped out oil wells have released CO2 into the atomosphere that wouldnt be there if it werent for us. But we claim theres still no proven connection when logic tells us there is.
What time honored values of our forefathers have we forsaken? This is kind of vague, what did he mean: the right to bear arms? sure, states rights? sure, Limiting the federal govt to regulating commerce, settling disputes between states, and providing for the common defense of the nation against foreign powers? seperation of church and state? but I hope he wasn't refering to the supposed christian values of our diest founders.
Eh but it was gutsy, of course hes a pastor not a politician and he doesn't need to worry about pissing off an entire state, only his town which is likely to be more uniform in values

CA sucks you totally missed the point of the above part of the speech. He was not talking about poinsoning the air with fossil fuel emissions. He was talking about poisoning the airwaves with lewd TV and radio transmissions. Look at exactly what he said one more time.
