anybody getting a child tax refund check?

somebody was telling me if you filed the child tax credit thing with your taxes you should have a refund check in the mail. The IRS has been mailing them out the past week.

The IRS has a website where you can check if you are getting a check in the mail.

Anybody get them?

Got ours last week. Pa is right...sending them out based on last 4 digits of ssn. Funny thing is, I got a letter from the IRS telling me the check was in the mail. Next day I got the check. Isn't that kinda stupid on the part of the IRS to send out a letter announcing you are getting it? Shouldn't receiving the check be notice enough? [}:)]

It's a rebate, not a refund. Got mine recently. The child tax credit will be increasing for the 2003 tax year, so that when you file in Apr2004 you will only get the original $600 credit, because you already got $400 of it.

Same crap they pulled before with the 'tax refund'. Just paying ahead of time for what you'll be getting.

I'll get one full credit, though. They base the check on your dependents for 2002 tax year, so they don't know about the son we had this year.

Got the check a couple weeks ago. Nice to have the cash. Also nice to know that if I would bank it, it would pay for the increase in taxes I'll be paying next year. If they give something back they'll get their own "refund" times ten. How do I get off of their mailing list? Hell, I can't stop working, so I guess I'm screw%d. And Wisconsin is also a taxpayer's Hell. So, what to do? Work, and work and work. And give it all away, you get penalized heavily for owning a house, it's a sin, so it seems I'm behind the eight-ball constantly, because I'm a bad guy and own property, and stupidly keep improving it. Every improvement...BANG!! Penalty! Taxes go up!
Maybe if I let the place run down and invited some junkies to live in it, I'd get some sort of subsidy. Long as I never touched a hammer or a lawn mower.......

Only problem with the resident junky plan here in Oregon is that they'll then confiscate YOUR property.

Got ours a week ago and pabooger is correct they sent them out in three batches by the last two numbers of your SSN. My last two are 89 so mine got mailed out on August 8. There was another post on here where someone mentioned they got their check a day or so prior to getting their letter from the IRS that the check would be mailed. The IRS could have saved a lot of money if it would not have mailed that unnecessary letter.

If you haven't gotten yours by now, maybe you should (Boy I hate to suggest this!!!), call the IRS????

got mine a couple of weeks ago and went to Branson Mo.. Spent it on food, motel and junk didnt even see a single thing that I wanted there.

I dont know why there isnt a single gun shop/sporting goods store that I know of in that town, except for Walmart. Which carries the usual guns and hunting/fishing items.

Looks like a shop there could make a fortune if it carried the right items.

Wife got the letter, I got the check. Put it in the savings account and never said a word. 3 weeks later she said something about how we never got a check. Then I told her it was in the bank.
I think the advance letter was so you could make plans to spend it before it got to you. You know, help the economy...
