Travis Hallam:
When you decided to give up on this forum, I harshly criticized your doing so by comparing you to a man who was willing to fight a whole football team but seemed willing to back down from a single drunk. I freely admit that I was totally off-base with my comments, and--owing to recent comments made in this forum---now find myself in parallel, if not complete agreement with your decision to leave. In fact, I've decided to join you (albeit for slightly different reasons.)
I find that I no longer desire to do battle with certain members of the Idiot Faction in the General Discussion Forum. I figured it might be a mistake to even start up with these people, and, sad to say, I didn't follow my instincts on this as I should have. Well, the cure is simple, and the simpletons won't be missed, so I'm pulling the plug on this sociopolitical freakshow and leaving while my blood pressure is still at a manageable level. To those of you who have been truly helpful as of late, I thank you from the bottom of my heart; to those of you who have been at least civil in your discourse (a sizable majority), I thank you too. As for the rest...bite me.
Good bye, lunatics. Have a nice life.

I have read a few of the comments from people that are saying there leaving the talk forum and so on. The way I see and handle my own life is I do as I say, I know that everytime I open my mouth or post in this forum im open to criticizim. So when I post and someone disagrees with me its there right and choice to do so, I don`t take it personally or get upset, its there right, god im glad I live in a free country and thanks to all the vets who gave me the right to be able to have someone disagree with me?

I won't be as harsh as the others, but peoples' viewpoint shouldn't run you off. If they are attacking you personally and directly then yeah it's time to do something about it one way or another.
I mean it when I say this: be safe and have a good life.

When I was a child, I thought as a child. But now that I am grown, I just wish I could act like a child and get away with it.
Do they secretly hope everyone will be posting, "OH NO!!! Why oh why was I so cruel!? Was it something I said? OH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come back! We need you!!!!"
Personally, I only leave this forum when I'm sleeping or out of town and don't have ready access to a computer.

I got blasted here about my 20th post and I was taken back. I looked at what I had said and came back and responded that I derserved to be blasted for saying anything that stupid in public.
I also got "attacked" and told where to put my comment -- Nunn came in later and "poofed" the guys remarks. I responded before Nunn poofed him and simple told the guy I was not going to take his suggestions. I also stay away from his threads as I find him unstable.
I don't agree with everything that is said here and I know there is no way everyone (or anyone) agrees with me. But that is what freedom of speech AND THOUGHT is about. If I want to take no criticism I can just not say anything.
Too bad skin is thin. I guess I am a simpleton and whatever, because I have found some pretty darn nice people here and this has been a great boon to an empty nester like me.
So have a nice trip through life alone if that is what you choose. One thing is for sure you will not lose an argument and no one will disagree with you. Sorry you are gone.
"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I
advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives
boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the
ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no
character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of
your walks." Thomas Jefferson
Ain't that the truth!
I tried some of those 12-step programs... but I always seem to fall off the wagon![;)]
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried
piteously. For hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be
covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He
invited
all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and
began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried
horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads
later,
the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he
saw.
With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing
something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the
farmer's
neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would
shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the
donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick
to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each
of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest
wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step
up.
Aa far as I'm concerned it's a bigWC

That, by the way is Who Cares.
I can't come to work today. The voices said, STAY HOME AND CLEAN THE GUNS!
...... so I'm pulling the plug on this sociopolitical freakshow and leaving while my blood pressure is still at a manageable level.
