"Anti-gun?" And Bush has been so pro-gun as of late?
"Spend like there's no tomorrow?" Hey, the Republicans have been doing a bang-up job of that so far.
Sure, she's a slimy politician, and not much of a public speaker, but how is that any different from Bush?
Accept the truth: Bush is just as much a free-spending gun-grabber as any liberal could hope to be.
It is safe to say that the American people [at least decent Americans]will again suffer world wide shame, disgrace and embarrassment.
JMHO!
Now let's look at Bush: the dude likes to land on aircraft carriers and take vacations at his ranch. And while he's off being a moral, forthright guy, Osama Bin Laden is still on the loose, Saddam Hussein is still on the loose, our budget is going to hell in a hand basket, the economy is riding shotgun on that particular journey, and he's not even pro-gun!
So tell me, what was it again that made this nincompoop so much more preferable to Clinton?
In response to your points.
"Bush: the dude likes to land on aircraft carriers" What, Clinton never did a publicity stunt?
Takes vacations at his ranch. What, Clinton never took a vacation?
"And while he's off being a moral forthright guy" Well we all know Clinton never did that.
"Osama Bin Laden is still on the loose" We knew about this guy long ago and it seems he was "on the loose" during all 8 years of Clinton.
"Saddam Hussein is still on the loose" Could be, but I would wager not for long. Just ask Uday and Qusay.
"Our budget is going to hell in a hand basket" This started years ago, plans for budgets dont take immediate effect but take years to determine the outcome.
"The economy is riding shotgun" See previous statement and realize that our budget and economy go together.
"He's not even pro-gun" What, are you telling me that the AWB was pro-gun.
"So tell me, what was it again that made this nincompoop so much more preferable to Clinton?" Well you stated it earlier "moral, forthright guy"
You will note that the first ban passed by Bush's dad had no sunset provision.
When you speak of budgets taking years to reach fruition, what you are referring to are ecnomic trends, not the budget. The budget is made every year, typically submitted by the President and members of Congress and hashed out in debate. Bush's budgets have been unfailingly enormous and, as a proven matter of record, not only eliminated the surplus Clinton left us with, but has saddled us with a record deficit.
Now, contrary to what most Bush apologists will say, debt is not good. Debt is what keeps most of sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America poor. Debt helps no one but the interest-charging banks and even they don't benefit if they don't eventually get paid. And if debt is so great, then why did the Republicans under Newt push their "Contract with America" so hard?
As for could have, would have, should have, Clinton tried to get Osama by lobbing over two dozen cruise missiles at him. This was the best we could do since we had no permission, and therefore, no safe way to insert our guys into Afghanistan to get him. China, Pakistan, and Russia would not have given us permission and going through their airspace without such permission would have been a costly mistake.
As for Saddam, if Reagan hadn't been so keen on helping him out, he wouldn't have the means with which to cause us so much trouble now. And wagering doesn't change the fact that he is, as of right now, still a free man.
And he may be moral and forthright, but he's still a nincompoop. I swear, it's like having Forrest Gump for president...
