Deer-shotgun question.....

To start off ,I've shot a mess of deer with a shotgun,However mt friends are telling me that the oo buck isn't anywhere near as good as ooo buck.Anyone care to elaborate? I've used o buck,and keep some 4 buck for close encounters of the worst kind but have no experiance with the 000 buck????

I beleive 000 buck is somewhere in the vacinity of .40cal pellets where the 00 buck is approx .35cal pellets. The 000 has 9 pellets and the 00 has 13 pellets. I have used both,..and they both work well. The 000 will hit harder as you would expect,..but you have less of a pattern..so it is a trade-off.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

We Hoosiers are only allowed slugs. Now a good neck hit will bring em down if you don't have a boiler room shot.

I use whatever the situation warrants, for thick cover or brush when you are more likley to jump shoot, I use 00, or #1's. if I'm still hunting or tree standing,I use 000 or 00,in fields or swamps where I can see up to 100 yds. I use slugs. but basicly you need to try patterning each load and different brands to see which one your gun shoots the best.You can drastically improve your large shot pattern with a pattern master choke tube available from cabela's they guarantee 100% shot in a 20 inch circle at 40 yards with federal premium buckshot,goodluck, and good hunting...
