Why is it that I can walk into a Wally World and buy a brand new low grade 10-22 for $159.00 but can't seem to get a decent used one for under $150.00 ? I mean I agree its a great 22,its popular...ITS NOT EXPENSIVE new.....Why used? Geez!

Most places will only give you @$100 for one used on trade so alot of people sell them on their own to avoid the reaming. Is a 10/22 worth $150 used? I think so, but it would depend on the condition of the rifle. I went to a gunshow a couple of weeks ago and was looking at a SS 10/22 International, it was used and the guy at the table was asking $280. I told him I could buy a new one cheaper and he told me to make him an offer. I offered him $200, he declined, I went to wallyworld and ended up buying a Rem 700 Youth Model in 308 caliber.

    LH,
I know what you mean.Went to the show in Austin
    Sunday and I don't think I saw a 10/22 for less
than $135 and those weren't all that nice.Being in
the auto repair biz for 30 years,I've seen many
people go staight to the salvage yards for parts
ASSUMING they will save money. They don't even price
the part at the dealer or parts house first.I think
the same holds true in the gun business. The adds for
the Austin show say something to the effect of "WHOLESALE".
Therefore, those who have not taken the time to shop around
or do a little homework, just assume that these guns at a
show are priced at "WHOLESALE",and are all a good deal.IMHO

IT'S WHAT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEMSELVES THAT MAKES THEM AFRAID.

Around here, for a blue one, standard wood, good used, 90.00. exceptional clean one 120.00, unless you go stainless, with the laminated stock,

At $150 or under for a new one you might as well go to a Wally World or Kmart & buy one. Your local dealer, really isn't going to make much off of a gun that price anyways.

Believe the used market is the result of the aftermarket craze. EVERYONE is looking for an "action" to build from so...........!
