Just About Crapped Myself At The Shop Today

One gun I've always been looking for showed up into the shop today.

Russian SKS, all matching serial numbers, laminated stock. The bore on this thing is like a freakin' mirror.

Needless to say, it's currently on layaway for myself. The final cost for it with tax will be $280.

My Uncle who knows very little about guns other than Bolt Action hunting rifles called me today and said he found a used gun he was wanting and ask me the value of it.Then he began telling me about this AK-47 the small shop had,I ask him what brand it was and he said all he new was it was written made in Russia,I ask him the price and he said $250.00.I told him I didnt think it was Russian because they were much more expensive.I ask him what type furniture it had and he said it was black synthetic and it had a scope mount on it and the open sights were green.I began to wonder if they were night sights.I almost made the one hour trip but could not convence my self it was a Russian AK.Now Robo tells us this.I wish I would of went and checked it out.I did think Russian AK's were much more expensive than say my SAR-1 7.62 x 39?

Robo, what year is it? Look at the front sight post and look for a number. There should be a number (between 1-5)stamped in the front that designates how well the particular rifle shoots, 1 being the best.

At least those Russian SKSs have a real bayonet on them! I never figured out how the Chicoms thought they could get away with that funky looking spike, almost as bad as the spike the Brits tried to use on the Enfield in WWII! A real bayonet should have a blade!

My father-in-law has a couple Russian SKSs with matching numbers.
That is a good price at $280.

Laister, it was busy today so I completely forgot to check. It's in the 1950s I believe.
