UhOhhh Pissed off Mark Christian.. 4_13_14.gif

    Sorry about that..
I just answered the mans question... [:D]

I saw two Garands, complete with tools, cleaninggear, oil-flask and the one was with 5 clips and the other with 8 clips.

One was with the scope as well.

Both had been restored at the danish military workshops and in pristine order. sorry to poke even further..

I humbly apologize to you Mark.
Didn't know I could even come close to stumble you...

When it comes to M1 rifles I have a sensitive side Peter and I have seen many fine old M1s overseas which cannot currently be imported into the United States due to various regulations. I know that there were many fine Dansih M1s cut up into parts kits because they could not be brought into the United States (although our Civilian Marksmanship Program was able to bring back several thousand).

Terribly sorry - but I'm still giggling and my GF is going nuts now.. [:I]

    Sent you a mail..

It IS too bad you can't get some of these Garands and other military rifles to the US - Personally I don't know why the heck a rifle that is usually permitted in a country, can't be imported.
    That beats me.

For the under $200 category I am gonna give it to the Lee-Enfield No.4 series (just make sure they are 5 or 6 groove barrels; the 2-groovers are crappy)

You can usually find a nice old Mauser in 8x57 for less than 200.00 at the shows, just make sure the barrel is in good shape. Clean it up and you can shoot it forever. Those things never wear out.

I had an M91 Mosin Nagant reFINNished with a Liege barrel that I gave $89.95 for. Since the collector market sprang up you can't find them for that anymore unless the person doesn't know what they have.

As usual, Mark Christian knows his rifles. The K31 is as fine a rifle as you can buy for whatever amount of money. I love to shoot mine, however the ammo is a little pricey.

Model 96 Swedish Mauser gets my vote, although I have had some great performance out of Ishapore .308 MKIII Enfields and Model .303 1917 Enfields(mine was made by Winchester)

These are so close they're almost a tie:

    K-31 Swiss
    M-96 Swedish
M28 or 28-30 Finnish Mosin Nagant

The bargain is the K-31 for around $125 in excellent condition.

Has'nt anyone ever heard of the Styer M-95? These things are unbelevably accurate. Even with 60+ year old ammo.

1891 Argentine Mauser carbine, 765 cal. Bought it in 1974 for $19.99, Put a reciever sight on it refinished the wood, bought Die's had less than $100.00 in it and it shoots under an inch at 100 yard's. It was old but had never been shot. I trim and resize 8mm brass and use 303 slugs in it, with 3031 pd. Great little brush gun, and I have shot several deer with it.[:D][:D]

finnish mosin nagant. if you read the incredible history of these rifles, youll know why.

a buddy of mine had an old mauser in 7mm that he paid 65 bucks for and with open sights at 100 yards it was quite accurate. i'd pick one up for that price in a heartbeat.

96 swede 6.5 x 55 hard to beat, I think my Swiss 1911 is more accurate than my K-31 but I think it is due to longer sight radius as I am shooting iron sights.

Without reading any responses on this thread I can safely say the majority should say the K31. This gun can actually be found for less than $100. The ammo price leaves a bit to be desired it's accuracy is damn sexy.
