I'm Fed Up

After reading a number of responses from a post about a recent anti-gun video, I find myself extremely frustrated.

The majority of the responses to the ridiculous, albeit effective video were nothing but jokes. Is the entire Assault Weapons Ban a laughing matter to everyone on this board? I don't know about everyone here, but I am completely against any form of an assault weapon ban. Personally, anti-gun advertisements such as the one recently shown scare the heck out of me. If we continue to stand on the sidelines cracking jokes at a strong opposition then we'll one day be left with nothing but single shot break-action .22s, if that.

Even though I just recently had a full bloom in my interest in firearms, I feel intensely passionate about this subject. if someone can provide me with a link to each and ever senator and house representative for each state, I promise I will write each and every one with expressing my opposition to the current and any future assault weapon bans. I can even promise that these letters won't be rants, they'll be concise and properly-worded.

Though I was only 9 when the ban of 1994 was passed, I feel as though I can genuinely make a difference here. Everyone who shares a love for gun rights and the bill of rights in general should feel the same as I. We need to protect the second amendment from further legal encroachment. If this was the first amendment being moved in upon, the entire nation is up in arms.

So please, I urge everyone who cares about their gun rights to write a pleasant and genuine letter to their senators and house representatives. We need to make a difference here, starting now. So please, no more jokes. Instead, positive action.

    Go outside,check the direction the wind is blowing..( 20 miles an hour is best)..Take your thing out and make water. The warm feeling you will get is akin to the results you will receive from those mighty defenders of freedom..the people you mentioned.

    Relax,young feller..it will all be over soon,and it won't hardly hurt..at least,for the first few years,anyway..

    For some reason ,the majority of gun owners don't take the possible loss of gun rights seriously.They just assume we have always had them and always will.Because of this attitude,as i have said before,we have already lost our guns.We just don't realize it yet.When people finally realize what is going on,it will be too late.

    ok to be serius even if the bill expires theres not gonna be a major flow of uzi's ak's and h&k weapons into the country they are banned under a 1989 assult weapons ban or for that matter any kind of forein made military arms now to be realistic if american companies make ak and uzi spinn offs you may see bayonet lugs and flash suppresseres again even on ar-15's if it expires you may see almost immendently high capacity magazines folding stocks and so forth

    I'll try to see if I can find a link for you...you can email ALL of Congress at one time with this link...and your voice IS effective. Don't listen to people that have been beaten down by the system...it might just be that they did not have enough support when they battled the system, and consequently they lost their hope. I for one am glad to see someone willing to stand for their beliefs![8D][:D][:)] I lost this link a while back, due to some computer problems, but I will try to find it for you. Thanks for your righteous indignation!

    roboman: I see where you are coming from, but there are so many people in this country who think that we dont need guns that no matter how many of us there are, we still lose.

    The news media makes every effort to show the bad side of firearms and very little if any to show the good. This is what drives the antigunners effort to get them all. The unknowing American public see it "live at 5:00" and they want all guns gone, and are more than willing to vote them out when the opportunity comes.

    Its sad, because as the saying goes, "when they outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns".

    If this happens, these people have only themselves to blame for not having this right to protect their families lives or property.

    As for everyone else, if this happens. I will be an "outlaw" and damned proud of it.

    I joined the NRA once. They spent all my dues on junk mail asking me for more money. What a waste of time.

    Ditto on what Guns and paint horses said. I myself dont know if we could ever make a differance. However I admire you for wanting to try. When you write this letter. Maybe you could show it to us and we could add some names to it.

    25 years ago...maybe..Socialism could have been stopped in this country.
    Today it is a freight train..nearly unstoppable.Look around you..for Gods sake..tell me how some one can stand up in front of a microphone and prattle on about 'protecting the Constitution"..and talk about signing an assult weapons ban?..To support ANY gun law indicates one of 4 things..
    1 :One is terminally insane;
    2: One is a da** lier;
    3: One is a Socialist;
    4; One is so terminally stupid as to defy description.

    No amount of begging at this late date will accomplish anything except delay the inevitable..and the precious NRA that people rave about is comprised of Quiselings at the upper level.

    Atlas Shrugged is interesting only if you aspire to have the Olympian-sized enthusiasm of the characters for progress -- and remember that Ayn Rand was not right about everything -- after all, if her characters were so smart, what were they doing in the railroad industry? Rand is largely a joke today, so read her very tract-like but somewhat fascinating novels with caution. Selfishness is NOT a virtue.

    As for roboman, I'm one guy you will never see not minding the loss of our rights to the type of black guns with an arbitrary list of features known as assault weapons. You will also, I hope, give me some credit for all the many letters I've written to various large media, which have been published, laying out in terms even a child can understand why these weapons have no business being made illegal anywhere there are free people (not even Kalifornia) in the United States of America.

    As for the ban, remember we just had a China/Norinco ban and without skipping a beat the importers started bringing in product from other countries like Turkey to fill the gap. Make imports legal and you WILL see new offerings coming in.

    Offeror;
    EXCELLENT point about selfishness..anyone reading 'Atlas' I would think would pick up on that.

    The aspect I am aiming for..is for good people to withdraw from a system going bad..and let it fall of its own rotteness..witness California.

    Tools1, I know the feeling you have. If everyone stays alone in this effort, they will feel alone and as though they can make no difference. KNow this though, if everyone shakes this feeling and contributes just a little bit, all those small contributions will turn into one massive effort. One that can easily rival the anti-gun crowd.

    I think everyone on this site is serious about promoting gun rights. If they were not, then they would not be here. To say that the other posters do not take gun rights seriously because they can laugh at the opposition is darn right insulting and a slap in the face to all of us. I watched the video and laughed at it as well because it is such a joke. the anti gun nuts have been acting this way for years. its nothing new to me.

    Big shot, though the video was indeed ridiculous, you need to remember that as funny as it was, it most defintely will influence more than few voters and political activists. That's why it's our part to speak out and stem the tide of anti-gun feelings that will surly result from this and any other efforts that are nothing but "a joke".

    Well good, you young bucks can carry on the fight now. I've done my share, supported the NRA, wrote letters, bla, bla, bla. Don't say I don't care about gun rights, as I have been at it for 22 years. I've had enough. I bought all my assault weapons already.

    Roboman;
    One man can make a difference. It has been proven throughout history.

    Write those letters and keep trying to get others to write also.

    Politicians are supposed to be "representatives" of the people, (haha) but if all they hear is the anti-gunners....well.....

    While one man is OK, many are better. You are right, in that IF we could all get together (at the same time) and challenge the anti-gunners. We would stand a good chance of winning. One problem is getting everyone together at the same time. Who is going to lead us? (do not look to the NRA for this one) When will it happen? What will be the final straw? Will the "authorities" allow it to happen? They do not want to loose power. With the patriot act in effect, they could call us terrorists, and get away with just about anything.

    Just imagine if you will...
    If there was only 40% of the registered voters who actually voted in a major election. (not hard to imagine, is it?) You go out and find 5 people who did not vote. If you convince only two of them to vote, that is 40% of the non voters. Add that to the percentage of voter who turned out to vote in the first place (for a cause), and you could easily have a overwhelming majority voting for a "cause." Only problem is that there are quite a few who will not vote for the "lesser of two evils" What we need are "representatives" FOR the people. They are few and far between.

    Is Highball right in his belief in, and even encouragement of , a coming revolution? I do not know. It could come to that. Will the people (sheeple) wake up in time? I doubt it. If it comes, it will not be pretty. While we have the "best" on the plant over in Iraq, our men are getting killed daily. It would be the same kind of fighting here, if that were to happen.

    The gene pool needs chlorine.

    If I had to pick a novel that will represent what our gun rights will be like in a number of years if we don't unite on this issue, I would pick Fahrenheit 451. Instead of books I'm talking about guns.
