You would think I would say a 22 of some sort, and there's several that are fun. But since buying the pair of P-97's, those 45's have taken over my body and mind with almost physical pleasure.

Have owned and regularly shot another pair of P-95's in 9mm since '98, but there's no comparison. Have no idea why, but the 45's are like they grew in my hands. Never owned any handgun that feels so natural and that I've handled so well.

And that includes the 22/45 that all who own will testify fits and feels like you can just point and shoot.

Any .22lr. At least then I can actually afford to shoot it. [:D]

My previous favorite shooter was my Remington 700 VSSF in .220 Swift. Very low recoil, very flat and it would shoot 3/8" @ 100 yards. I had to sell it to pay for medical bills. I sure do miss it. I don't want one of the new Remington's with that stupid locking safety on it...

OK, this is about fun. I have a lot of guns, but I think that I have the most fun shooting my little Romanian .22 bolt action training rifle. Next to this would be my .50 cal. Hawken replica. They're all fun, though.

    familyguy--I like your taste.

Personally, I don't own one but my favorite shooter of all time would have to be the SIG P-228 (M-11) that I used to carry. What a dream. I threw on some Pachmayr slip-on finger-groove grips and the thing felt like it was an extension of my body. Throw in the accompanying Gould & Goodrich paddle-holster and it felt so right that I actually took naps with it on my hip and even accidentally took it home a few times. Shhh...don't tell nobody~

Hummm ... strange, 28 replies and no one has said Glock ... and although I have a few, I won't either [:p]

As someone pointed out - other guns may go ... they may even be the main reason I go to the range, but these 2 are the ones that always accompany me to the range ... they are not just "favorites" but proven preformers:

    Pistol - Kimber Custom Stainless
    Kimbers most basic stainless 1911

    Bushmaster XM-15/JP Enterprise Varmint
    Tack driving "Mongrel Parts Gun"

Rifles - Still my USR. Got a quick release barrel knob on it now and a new Hensholdt scope to sight in Sunday. Can shoot that puppy all afternoon with a grin. And, evidently so can many around me at the range. Let them try 30 rounds and they change from 'That is a weird gun' to ' I really like that gun.'
Pistol - My Erma .22 that isn't in anyone's catalog or blue book. Had to retire it this year, worn sear and if it ain't listed, you can't get parts. Really miss that little pistol. Trying to get the Erma Baby Luger to fill the slot. It is getting there. Would love a Korth pistol.[:D][:D][:D] Just takes more money!

FrancF...I like your choices. I wish I had a 40X. Would have to say though my all time favorite weapon is not one of my many match rifles and pistols but my pre-war 20 gauge JP Sauer side by side. Nothing like busting a covey of quail for real fun. Beach

P.S.Now of course if I had found that violin case we were talking about a couple of days ago with the Thompsonarious violin in it I might have another choice! Beach

I think you need at least one more mag ... isn't 13 supposed to be an "unlucky" number?[:p]

    spiny -
I like your taste! I'm a big fan of the AUG too, but thats why I had to look at it in terms of what always goes to the range with me ... whats more, if I had to sell one or the other I would let accuracy be the deciding factor ... In my case, the AUG lost.

When you start shopping for a Erma Baby Luger and if you want it for a shooter be sure and try the trigger; I had one that unless you pulled the trigger just right all you got was mush ... mine had a lot of slop in it, but maybe thats just the way they are oh.gif I guess if you just want it to fill a slot its not that big of a deal.

kimber: PLEEEAAAAASE. You should know by now that we have similar tastes in guns. My baby Luger is beautiful and the trigger is wonderful. The issue is that no one knows them in todays market. The trigger on mine is great. But, it lost the ejector spring on the range last January. Had it replaced two weeks ago and the smith (and I use the term loosely) put the trigger back together incorrectly.
By the way, when I shoot my Steyr, I bounce the 6x6 target every shot at 150 yards. I love it and it is as accurate as I am. Guess I am just not up to par on the range. But, if I point it at a 6x6 target at 150 yards, I am going to rock it and grin. Good enough for me. Perhaps my standards are too low. Oh well, I am happy and accurate within my own specs.[:D][:D][:D][:D] That is with the 1.5 scope. Will be trying out the 4x Hensoldt this weekend.

Don't get me wrong; I love my AUG and I don't think anyone would consider your standards as low bouncing a 6X6 at 150; heck, I'd be grinning too ... but when it comes to my "Mongrel Parts Gun" it's a tough act to follow.

    BushmasterGroup.jpg
This was shot from the bench ... I wish it was off-hand!

Glad to hear you got a good Baby Luger ... mine was a big disappointment and I sold it shortly after I acquired it ... first and only German firearm I've had and didn't like.
