Harpers Ferry Hall Rifle Two Pics.

OK, I've located an interesting piece and am looking for advice. In a local store, I have found what I believe to be a Harpers Ferry Hall rifle, which has been converted to percussion. I've looked on the net at some pictures and web sites and this one appears to be original in configuration and finish (both metal & wood). The problem I have is that I typically don't look at this type of firearm very often, because this requires a different area of expertise, which I don't have.
My questions are simple, what would the value of this model be if in good condition. On the stock, I can still see the marks where the saw/file/etc. has "milled" the wood. On the metal, there is no rust or pitting and no signs of a re-blue. Just an "aged" appearance. The only area where there is any pitting (but it's not even pitting), is where the percussion cap would be placed. There is a slight amount of darkness there, assumedly due to being used over time. I have two pictures which I took with my phone yesterday which I'll be happy to forward, I just have no clue how to move them from my e-mail to HUNT101, then upload. If you would like to see the pictures, please e-mail me and I'lll be happy to send them to you.

EDIT:
Thanks SPIDER.....I know the pictures are not the best, so I am going to look at it again today. I'll try to get some shots with better detail.

Hi, Aaron - If you sent them from your cell phone to your e-mail, you should be able to save the picture attachments to your hard drive. Then, you can upload them to a picture hosting website.

A Model 1819 Hall rifle converted to percussion would run around $1,000 if in good condition.

From what I can see, that one looks really crisp. Check the stock carefully for repaired cracks, these were a little fragile. Inspectors stamp should be on stock if original. The metal was finished a nice smooth brown rather than blue. Looks a little like rust but has a polished look to it. If this checks out I would raise the vallue to an easy $1500. But then, I like Halls.

It looks a little better than you described but the pictures are limited. Does it have inspector's markings in the stock? How are the mechanics? How much is the dealer asking for it?

Also, is that a Springfield Trapdoor carbine in the lower right of the bottom picture? [:p]

I just went back to the store, and here's the story:
An lady brought a bunch of guns in on consignment. Yesterday, I could have bought the gun. Today, there may be a family member interested in the Hall rifle. The lady is due to come back to the store on Monday, so I'll know then if the item is still for sale.

There is a trapdoor in the bottom of the picture but the pricetag is way too high at 10K.

$10K??? Was it found in Custer's dying hand? [:0][B)]

If he charges those kind of prices, I can only imagine what he expects to get for the Hall.

the orange strap looks to be aftermarket.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

No...the orange straps were added to Hall rifles at the factory. If the strap was not present, the gun would be worth mere pennies....

The trapdoor has the orage strap too....Maybe that's why the price was at 10K??? See, the strap is where the value is.

    Spider,
Check your e-mail for the price on the Hall
The pipe dream on the Trapdoor has nothing to do with the value of the Hall. The Hall is set at a good purchase price.

Ahhhh...the dreaded orange strap. That explains it alright. [;)]
