Hunting ammo

My wife is about out of ammo for her savage 99 in 243. She has been using Remington 100gr core loks and I'm looking at getting her something different.
I'm leaning twords federal power shoks but at almost a buck a round I'm considering there's.
Anyone ever use sellier & bellot? I see their 100gr soft points for $0.60 per round.
Also I've used prvi partisan quite a bit in my 308. But only fmj plinking ammo. Anyone ever shot a critter with their soft point?

I shot a whitetail buck several years ago using Prvi Partisan ammo. It was 165 grain soft point in 7.62X54. Performed really well. the buck only ran about 20 yards and piled up. I recovered the bullet and it was a perfect mushroom. I think it is good ammo. Don
Federal PS shouldn't be that expensive.

The S&B 243 ammo I tried showed poor accuracy and several had high pressure indicators(sticky bolt lift and flattened primers).
My initial recommendation would be Hornady American Whitetail ammo. I've not had any problems with this line.
Remington went down the rabbit hole years ago, started making unsafe & inexpensive guns, then forgot that centerfire ammo needs good primers.
I haven't bought commercial ammo in over 35 years because I reload.
I can suit the load to the gun, get the ballistics I want, and save a buttload of money doing it.
If the corporate pinheads continue to screw up & overcharge for their declining product lines; they are not too big to fail.
I think Jack O'Connor was the last guncrank to recommend the .243; it's a decent round for old people and women[:)]
Can't go wrong with the 95 grain Federal Fusions.
+1
They shoot good in my rifle.
I don't shoot much factory ammo but I really like the Federal Fusion ammo.
I switched to Barnes for my 338 Win Mag and 30-06 a number of years ago, and have not looked back.
Accurate, consistent, and they perform flawlessly.
A little pricey, but a box lasts quite a while!
How many rounds does she go through in a season. (Assuming she is deer hunting?).
I have not seen a brand of ammo mentioned in this thread that I would refuse. They are all good.
I agree....that being said buy her the round that shoots best in her rifle....
it may shoot great with your current round, new round may not shoot as well
I will mention that I've shot some of the 95gr Federal Fusion ammo out of two different .243 rifles and it shot well out of both of them. I haven't hunted with it yet so can't say how it will do on game but I wouldn't hesitate to take it out and hunt with it.
