I have failed as a father................

edited April 2018 in General Discussion
I always did my best to raise our boys right, but tonight I see that I failed with my younger son.
I started teaching him how to shoot all kinds of guns at the age of 6.
His first handgun shooting were, a Ruger Single Six, them my K-22, them the Ruger MKII, then a K-38, then a Colt Python, then Ruger Single actions in .357, .44 Magnum and .45 Colt, then on to Colt 1911's in .38 Super and .45 ACP and my Cylinder & Slide custom Hi-Power.
At 21 he got his CCW and carries either a Kahr K-9 or a S&W 642.
He carries my Ruger 4&5/8's in .44 Magnum when he is out hiking and camping, up north on my wife's family farm, they do see a black bear once in awhile.
I though I had given my son the best that a father could do with teaching him proper handguns and there use, but, no, sigh, sob......... He comes home tonight with a GLCOK 19 GEN 4 !!!!!!!!!!
A GLOCK !!!!! Plastic Tupperware !!!!!!!!
Oh, where or oh where did I go wrong???????????

As long as he doesn't shoot himself in the leg while holstering it, maybe you didn't fail so badly.

[It's really quite amazing how often that has happened with those tupperware guns.]
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

You have failed. Very sad, these young kids, what are you gonna do?

At least you tried your best. You have a lot of guts to admit this on a public forum.

It appears global warming might have less impact on us than we had feared. Watching the Science Channel a day or two ago they informed me when global warming gets into the irreversible cycle of warming the oceans will boil and evaporate, leaving more dry land instead of less.

I guess the poor boy just wants to kill what he?s shooting at.

It took me 37 years of life to figure out the same conclusion he has reached!

First off it is "tactical tupperware"

Second have not learned that deny your son access to one of the most prolific handguns ever made only drove him to it.

Thank God he came to the light on his own, persevering through his father's prejudices. Bright kid!

Take it away from him before he hurts himself with it and give him a big single action.
You should be alright as long as you caught this early enough. If he'd started wearing a man bun he would be lost forever.

I too failed as a father .My son was taught to shoot using a Ruger single six with the 9 &1/2 inch barrel. His first deer was shot with a Savage model 99 in 308. His first shotgun shooting was with a well loved SEars single shot 20 gauge. Never thought he would go wrong . Then he came home with a glock oh the humiliation of it all

You didn't fail at all, in fact I'll say that you were dang successful. Congrats on raising another generation who understands and exercises their second amendment rights! Far too many of the Soros/Bloomberg paid media-darling little sheeple sure don't get what that means, and only decades from now when it's gone will they rue the poor decisions of their youth.

I think the others said it best when they said at least he came home with a new gun, I can think of a dozen things he could have come home with that would be a lot worse than a Glock.

Teach him to care for it, load it, shoot it, clean it and safely store it...and I'll bet a weeks wages that starting in the near future he'll come home with another gun..and then another one...and maybe another one....and yet another one...etc...
