I've been looking into that through Adelphia. They have a special going like $30 a month for 5 months then after the 5 months it jumps to the normal $42 or $45. Seems pretty steap to me. Is it really that much better??

PS: how do you insert the pictures into your replies & topics? I heard you and PAbooger were the ones to ask...

0311Marine: Congrats. There is one issue with DSL. Once a month, I suggest turning off the DLS "box", removing the black power line and telephone cord from the unit and letting it sit for about 2 or 3 minutes. Verizon told me to do this when I had a problem getting on line--seems this process removes the "cache" in the unit which may cause it to freeze on you. Been doing it ever since and have not experienced that problem again.

You will never go back to dial up once you have experinced the speed of cable or DSL.

Wait until cable comes through your area, although I might be biased because my DSL is in the sticks and there are only two "pipelines" into and out of this area, where previously, I was in the middle of an enormous part of the "web".

The Holiday Inn in Visalia, about 4 hrs. south, has some kind of incredidly fast connection. It's almost sick to see pages load so quickly!

The fastest download I had was 1.5MB in 1.5 seconds, at around 3 a.m. EST from a Microslurp site. On the cable.

My DSL here is the only thing that lets the wireless work, plus there is my wife and me both online at once, and sometimes I'm using two computers at once (a financial program I use for live sytock market conditions seems to need it's own "connection" to the hub.

Trouble is, there is no competition in town. Just wait until Verizon or .Yahoo DSL comes to town. Bet STI lowers their rate then!
