online auction scammers?

Let's say you sell stuff online at auction. Your a nice guy, you get insurance every time for the buyers. The last 10 things you sold the buyers stated the items were broke and wanted refunds or partial refunds....Would you think a new trend is starting?

How is a seller to know if the items are broke or not?

Hello, if you got insurance isn't it the shipper's problem?

Depends what it is and how it was packed. They throw stuff across the room at the shipper's. Is your stuff packed so that it is safely motionless in the middle of at least a 3" cushion of styro popcorn, or does it slide around inside the box? Does the box protect the item fully, or do you "make do" with padded envelopes on stuff that should say "do not bend?" I'm not judging, just asking...

if you put insurance on it , then its not your problem but the shippers, let them worry about it, but you do need to do a ggod job of packing it

The last item was packed very, very well. That is why I'm questioning a new age of buyers trying to get their money back every time.

I shipped a distributor to Georgia. I got a block of styrofoam and cut out the shape on tow halves, put the distributor in the middle and placed her in a box. The only way it could of broke is if it was ran over by the UPS truck.

I think if I had any doubt I would ask the damaged Item be returned. But really I think the others are right, if it is insured it should be the shippers problem.

The last lady that said there was something wrong with the item (page inside book torn, could not happen during shipping). I told her to ship it back for a FULL refund, never heard from her again.

I think there is a growing number of buyers that want to get "all or part" of their money back by pulling this scam.

When insured, the buyer has to take it to the shipper and prove to "the shipper" that it was damaged. Then the shipper refunds the money to you "the sender" and it is up to you to get it to the buyer.

Had this happen on some glassware one time. Was packaged pretty well and most of the items made it OK, (Obviously not good enough for the handling received) so a couple were cracked on arrival. The post office refunded the whole amount to me, and I in turn sent the refund to the buyer.

Does not sound like with what you shipped, and the way you shipped it, there should have been any problems. Tell them to take it to the shipper and START A CLAIM!!! That is what insurance is for. Do not send them any money back.

Sounds like UPS treatment to me. After all, they are the guys who now make you ship handguns onvernight so their employees can't as easily steal them. Try the US Postal Service, they are every bit as efficient and if their employess steal from ya, they put them in jail instad of making you pay more. And yes, you can legally ship firearms. Need a form 1508 (can download form their web site) and follow directions. They are restricted by law from carrying ammo, aerosols, explosives but will honor their insurance payouts as long as you can prove value once they have accepted the package for mailing. Most handguns can be shipped priority mail, a 2-3 day service with insurance for around $10.00.
