Does anyone know where you can view gelatin firing test results of various calibers online?

I think that Bill Cosby has a site. Lots of kids involved, I think it's more pudding than regular gelatin, but lots of different calibers of kids are shown. Not sure on the link, tho....

Here's a question and I mean this with complete respect. I'm not trying to be a smart butt. Why is gelatin the standard? I personally think that it gives an "ooohh ahhhh" photo opportunity for gun rags to promote sponsors in their magazines. Gelatin doesn't throw in bones or organs or dense muscle tissue. It doesn't show what the terminal performance of a projectile looks like after its passed through matter of varying densities and over objects that cause it to change direction or path within the body.

If you are in a gunfight you are pointing and not aiming for the most part. It makes sense that you would be pointing at center-of-mass of your potential adversary who is also shooting at you. Where are the hands and arms of your adversary when he is shooting at you? They are probably right there in front of his center-of-mass. Now the bullet has to pass through a hand or forearm before it hits center-of-mass. With that being said, why don't they place an object in FRONT of the gelatin so that we can see how the bullet performs after it has passed through a likely obstruction? The closest I've seen ballistic gelatin tests attempt to replicate "reality" is when they fire bullets through various types of cloth layers to imitate firing through clothing.

Okay. That's my argumentative point for the day. I'm sure it's controversial amongst the shooting community and I'm sure many will contest it as they have in the past. I'm just trying to test the current waters.

    Idsman 75,

Cheers for the advice, but I guess I could have been a little clearer.

I was kinda wanting to know roughly what different calibers/bullet types would do while passing through Deer innards.

Gelatin tests seemed a good way of doing research to me before I choose a new Deer rifle.

But hey, if you do have any more reliable evidence on the traumatic effects of calibers/bullet types please do tell?

    Cheers!

The best bullit tester I have found is to shoot a armadillo and see how much damage it does. Lots of mass, innards, and mass.
