there are a few members on the board here that i hold in high esteem. these gentlemen have earned my respect through word and deed. I know why i respect them, and it varies with each person.

are there any members here you respect more than others?
I will refrian from listing them until i get a few replies, just to see if others think the same way i do.

Lots of folks here I respect. Some of them I argued with on many occasions, and some I've been fighting mad at. But heck, I've been mad at my best friends. I respect those who handle themselves with honor. Wonder where I get that?[:D]

By the way Chris, you're one of those I respect, and so is Michelle.

You're right. It takes a long, long time to earn respect...and only one careless moment to lose it.

    Good thread, Maggie.

I respect everyone, unless they give me a reason not to.

There are many people on here who know a lot more than I do and for that they do get my respect, especially the way they handle themselves when answering a question.

One who comes to mind is Mark Christian.

There are others, Thank you for a nice forum.

[:D] Had to ask, wasn't sure if we were generating a list or talking about one person. I respect people here for various reasons, some are walking libraries like Mark Christian and Iconoclast, some have had experiences that no book can give like Rldowns3, and others you got to respect because they can take ribbing all day and still fight to maintain their dignity which brings us to the topic of Boogers[;)]
PS: I like to think of it not so much as respecting some members more, just disrespecting them less (see Pawn, less stroking that way[;)])

the guys I respect have earned that respect for several reasons. Sticking to their guns mainly. Giving their opinion and not changing it no matter how unpopular it is. that goes along way with me. they are great guys i have alot to learn from, and have learned alot from. In general i respect every one who has answered the call and done something to defend this country. I cant really put my finger on why these men have stood out, but they have.
to them, I say thank you. thank you for giving me someone to look up to, and someone to try to emulate in my own life.

My list of who I do respect is a lot longer than those that I don't respect!!!! I won't even attempt to list the respectable ones but most you know who would be on the other list! There are only about 4-5 who make the "bad list"! You will not see my name listed in replies to a post that they have started!!!! Just howbigga boy are you?!!!! GHD

I would have to say that I have a great respect for this forum in general. And while I do have a high respect for many of you, there is one person that takes the cake. But I am really growing to love this place. And it's members.

Firstly I like nearly everyone (a few exceptions are made) I've come across on these boards and the life experiences here are amazing! There are some members who I respect just because they have such a vast knowledge on certain subjects. Others I deeply respect for their selfless service to our country, and still others just because their postings are so much fun to read! Guys like Pa B. and KingJoey are just plain "out there" and are lightning rods for all sorts of comments which might anger some people, but those guys seem to live for it! I also have tremendous respect for a few individuals here who I almost NEVER agree with (they know who they are) just because they makes there points using facts and hold onto their own core beliefs even when it would be far easier to simply go along with the crowd on certain issues.

I respect everyone here. We all like guns. We all have opinions and the world would be a boring place if we all thought alike.

My opinions and knowledge have all been effected by every single member of this board.

Thank you all for the input.

Everyone but the trolls and trouble makers. Even if someones view and opinion is erroneous,IMHO, I can respect them. If they stand their ground and have reason, and know the reason I might add, they get my respect even if not my agreement. I've heard some here express a view now and then and the only reason they can come up with for it is 'He's the President by god!' or 'He' a Democrat/Republican', those I just blow away. But if you can say the above and support your view with sound argument and reason, you got my respect.

And just being the nice good people your are will get you my respect.

For what it's worth, Just my two cents.

Seems if we were to be able to meet each other, really face to face discussions even on the tough subjects, we'd find we actually liked some of those we disagree with on a more or less regular basis.

No different than in our day to day lives. I sure don't have the same opinions with everyone I'm around every day.

This is a mind expanding group,
or is that another way of saying
    opening a can of worms ? [:D]

I know,..that assumption is probably a little over board on my part. I do respect your opinions and more importantly your resolve in standind behind them under the fire that can be directed around here. I guess we are not that different in some ways.......[;)]

Disagreement I can understand, just plain meaness is something else. But by disagreement, I mean real disagreement based on facts and even opinions. Some people disagree with somethings just by picking them apart down to the nano parts.

I have developed respect for many of the members, and a dislike for about 4 members. I would say that is pretty good numbers for a group of this size.

Respect is a 2 way street. I respect all that return the respect. We all can not agree on everything, if we did it would be a boring board. There are way too many here I respect to name and I would be afraid I would leave someone out. I will say I respect all that come to this board to contibute, educate, or just converse with civility. I do not respect those that come to cause trouble, try to force their ideas on others, and that ask questions about causing more/worse death or how to do something illegal. Just my humble opinion.[8D]

There are a lot of folks I respect here and a lot I don't. And rather than name names, I'll just put it this way:

The member who responds with logic, reason, and passion wins out over the numbskulls who use threats, insults, and personal attacks.

The member who thinks for him or herself and actually has his or her own opinion gets my attention far better than the bleating sheep who repeat the party line ad nauseum.

The member who is open to other opinions but not easily led by pretty words and slick promises has my respect.

The member who has compassion for others but is no one's fool is okay in my book.

And last, but definitely not least, those members who have served our country in times of peace or war have not only my utmost respect, but my admiration as well.

Heck I respect everyone here and the opinions, For myself if I can't keep and open mind and listen and think outside the box of what others here on the board say. Whats the point of being here? Personal attacks are anti productive, usless, and have no bearing. (unless it's a troll ofcorse)[;)]

Remember the school bully? Were any of you him?
Bullies don't care if they are liked or not. They just want to be feared. I guess this is their type of respect. Some on this forum use the mask of user-names to bully others and degrade their fellows on the forum. (An example would be someone that jumps on me for using the word fellows, like it excludes females). You may have noticed some people being bashed for bad spelling also.

To me it is still a manhole cover and mankind is everyone on earth.

He folks, taking a break from my impossible mission to respond to this topic.

I have had some heated exchanges with several people here and have also had some pleasant conversations with others.
I have learned a lot and have gotten advice and support and sometimes recieved lets say corrections to my thoughts.

As to respect, I would have to agree with a lot of what EMM said, lots of people here with differing ideas and opnions on a variety of topics. I rarely agree with some and almost always agree with others. Does that mean I respect thsoe I agree with more than those I dont? No it does not.
I have the utmost respoect for those that hold firm a belief and stand by it, as long as they dont codemm others for holding a differing view.

There are several here whom I like a great deal and would go back to back with at anytime, anyplace; people like jjmitchell60, DWS, and Elect1mike to name a few.

There are others here that even though I dont agree with their philosiphy I would be proud to call them a friend; People like Saxon, ElMuertoMonkey,Whiteclouder and others.

There are also a few I dont really like (at lest based on what limited contact I have with them here) but I still respect them for sticking to their guns. It takes a man to speak his mind and then stand behind what he says; People like Faldum come to mind.

Then there are those that I just have to read their post cause you never know whats going to be in it, could be serious, funny, political, informative or all of the above; people like PAbooger, Blackroses, drobs, and William81 stand out here.

We have a wide range of age, intellect, life experiences, income, geocultural backgrounds and firearms experience here on this board and you have to respect that.

Every single member here (trolls excluded) should be respected for speaking thier mind , sharing their thoughts, their frailties, their wisdom and even their sorrows with all of us.

when I use the term "man' I also mean the ladies here, for they give the place a touch of home and a modicum of decorum. Not to mention the fact that some of them know more than us boys about firearms and hunting.

I know I left out names here but I did not mean to list everyone on the board, I just wanted to list a few examples of the kind of people I see here and why I respect each of them though I may disagree at times with what they have to say.

I said it before and I will say it again, this board has the absolute best group of people I have found on any board on the internet. I consider you all to be people that I would be proud to introduce as someone I respect.

This is beginning to get way off track.

We don't need no stinkin' hugs or songs.

The fact is that some posters (mostly new ones, including trolls) disrespect the others but by far this is like a family and some of us like it that way.

Of course, there are some ol' timers that will never be our friends until they meet us and have some ribs/chicken/corn/beer with us
