I packed up all my wine equipment and said to myself that I was going to give wine making a rest. Well I finished up the last batch of ginger-pear when my grandson came for a visit. This morning I went for coffee in town and stopped at the local pawn shop where the owner was sorting peaches from his orchard. He had 4 five gallon pails filled with culls. Dumb me I asked for them. Now here I am preparing 80 pounds of peaches as the grass is growing crazy, and the wife says get it mowed or else. Why do I get myself into these predicaments ?

So you have two activities in conflict? Since your grandson is there, get him started with the lawn mower while you get busy with the wine. When you're both through, a sample to your grandson would brighten his day.

If she mows like my ex, she'll have a deck spindle broken within an hour. To her credit though. It did take her a year and a half to rip the discharge chute off. 'Course, in that year and a half she broke three more deck spindles.

Grandson back to Rhode Island. Wife and I mow 2 acres with 20 inch push mowers. Spent 4 hours this afternoon getting peaches ready. Grass is too wet to mow. The snapper must think I'm his mother or something, he comes right up to my shoes for bread now. Haven't sold the 1990 Miata yet. Have sent a packet to the Governor to see if I can get some recognition for the wife for her 16 years of dedication to "Bargains Galore on 64", a 160 mile yard sale event she started here in Arkansas. The event brings in hundreds of thousands of dollars into the state.
