telescope question

my girlfreind bought a real nice telescope for that mars thing,well we cant figure how to get the darn thing to work, it has that little scope for you to pick out your target then you look into the view finder thing ,well you see nothing.the instructions must have been written by a rocket scientist and we cant comprehend what it is saying can anyone help?and enlighten us on how to get it to work?[?]

    that little scope needs to be sigted in (just like a rifle scope)for it to work corectly. Do this during the day. I've found it works best if you try to sight it in on an object far away( a mile or more)like a building.
    Also when take it out at night to look at a star find it with the little scope when you move to look at through the telescope it might not be in the field of view because it will be moving,(as the earth is rotating) just play around a little with the up and down and left and right adjustments to find the object your looking for.

    Got a telescope 2 . Can see moons surface fine , but mars stiil looks like little red ball . I can see it better with my spotting scope . Oh well . The up side is the college just started last week , and the girls are sunbathing on the hillside . Maybe I'll have better luck watching land based heavenly bodies . ( That is until the old lady catches me !! [;)])
