Especially for all those puzzling questions that make us wonder.
One li'l thing, though . . .
PLEASE refrain from political or religious stuff. I started this for fun, not arguement or debate.
I'll start 'er off with a personal puzzler:
Why does gear oil stink, and what makes it stink? I was told it was whale oil, but I think that is BS.

Cutting oil: Oils used for applications like pipe threading, contain sulfer, lard and chlorine- which gives them a special smell all their own. Cutting oils useed in applications involving aluminum and magnesium are special napthenic based oils which contain no sulfer, chlorine, nitrates or phenols. When most folks think of "oil" they picture the petroleum based lubricants which they pour into their car's crankcase. In fact lubricating and industrial oils cover a wide range of applications and vary considerably.
and you are familiar with that odor how?
[xx(]Thought you said this was for fun...

Sulfur-type compounds such as Tertiary Alkyl Polysulfides and other sulferized esters are added to gear oils to serve as extreme pressure lubricants. These compounds are death to your car's converter so gear oils should never be used for engine lubrication since they will be present in combustion byproducts and exit through the exhaust system.
Unless, your dad owned a 1974 GMC 1/2 ton with a 250 6 cylinder that DRANK and leaked oil. Then, and only then, is it permissable to use 80/90 wt in the crankcase. Not too much, because when winter hits, it will not spin over fast enough to start.
Why does some rifling twist to the right and some twist to the left???
Right hand twist is for right handed shooters. Left hand twist is for left handed shooters.
Actually started out with a left handed gunsmith who purchased a new lathe. Yep, you guessed it, the tail stock was on the left hand side. So, when Olie spun up the barrel to start cutting, the barrel was spinning in the correct, normal rotation when ONLY looking at the barrel. But, now, with the chamber chucked in the right hand side, the barrel was threaded left handed. Instead of telling his customer, he ended up making double his normal 'smithing fees by telling Sven, that this rifle was special.
From that point on, Sven, believing that he had a special rifle, began to shoot in competitions, all over the home country. Sven actually won quite a few competitions as well, for everybody that looked down the barrel, could see the left hand twist, and, when combined with Sven, shooting left handed, allowed the rifle, and Sven, to be "in sync".
I've smelled dead beaver (a stinky animal, even when alive), and I've smelled month-old onion gravy. It has distinct characteristics of both, a lingering funk combined with an initial foulness and overall rancidity, plus something of a delayed reaction. Not so much a *sniff* GAHHHHHHH!, but more of a *sniiiiiiiiff* . . . . . GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!! and then the scent lingers in the nose for a few precious moments.
I will take you word for it... and I ain't giving you a courtesy sniff for either one of them[:D]

I never would've thought sulfur. It doesn't have that rotten egg smell characteristic of sulfur. It has more of a dead-beaver-floating-in-month-old-onion-gravy scent.
stinky beavers smell like whale oil so it is probably a combination of the two

Reminds me of a girl who asked a woman in an elevator "can I smell your feet?"
Certainly not said the woman.
Well then it must be your stinky beaver![:D]

If the military does away with gender-specific job descriptions, what will they call a coxswain? (swain is inherently male).
Why does wedding cake decrease a woman's libido?
Why don't women just rub toilet paper on their bust if they want bigger breasts? It works great on their butts.
