    Does black powder fit your criteria?

    I don't think a 25acp round would make it all the way to the end of a rifle barrel.

    I have never shot one, but I think the old .25 rimfire must have had some merits. Elmer Keith liked it, and I would buy one if it ever came back.

    Stevens, Cooey, and a couple others made a .25 cal rim fire rifle, I have a box of the cartridges, Buulett looks a lot like .22 cal Magnum.. only in .25 cal

    Stevens .25... Quiet, accurate, and well made. I have a nice one that was given to me 40 years ago.

    BR... How much for that box of ammo?

    I regularly shoot a Winchester Model 53 in 25-20 (.257 60 grain bullet). It is very accurate out to 100 yards.

    Thats what the #2 whitetail in the world was shot with.

    Yes... but most were chambered for rifles only. The Winchester Model 1885 Single-shot was manufactured in six different 25 caliber cartridges;

    25 Stevens rimfire (chambered in both rifle & handgun)
    25-20 Single Shot
    25 W.C.F. (25-20 Winchester repeater)(also chambered in the Model 1892, 53, and 65 lever-actions and possibly a Colt revolver?)
    25-21 Stevens centerfire
    25-25 Stevens centerfire
    25-35 W.C.F. (also chambered in the Model 1894, 55, and 64 lever-actions)

    There are numerous other 25 caliber cartridges that have been manufactured over the years;

    25 Krag
    25-20 Marlin
    25-36 Marlin
    25 Newton (wildcat)
    256 Newton
    25 Remington
    25-06 Remington
    257 Roberts
    250-3000 Savage
    257 Weatherby Magnum
    256 Winchester Magnum
