Democratic California state Sen. Leland Yee was arrested Wednesday for wire fraud and conspiracy to deal firearms as part of an FBI sweep in Sacramento and the Bay Area. The gun-control proponent allegedly conspired to facilitate an undercover agent's purchase of illegal firearms, which would be imported through a port in Newark, N.J.

Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow, an organized crime figure in Chinatown, was arrested as part of the investigation that nabbed Yee.

Yee allegedly traded "official acts" for donations from undercover agents, and took $10,000 from an undercover agent to make a call to the California Department of Public Health passing along kind words about a potential contractor.

Yee was elected to the California State Assembly in 2002 and to the State Senate in 2006. He placed fifth in the 2011 San Francisco mayoral race, running up a $70,000 debt prior to his alleged crimes.

    I'll be surprised if they don't spin it all around, and end up giving him some sort of award. He will get either a lenient sentence, or none at all. He probably has plenty of friends to fall back on, in and around the FBI, that he won't feel too much anxiety over the whole issue. Feinstein and Pelosi will carry out the required number of handyjammers, and all will be well.

    I'll bet he never serves day one. He is rabidly anti-gun, therefore, he is one of the chosen people. All of us know the chosen people are the good guys and the good guys never do time.

    It will play out like this. Nothing will happen for 6 months. Than all charges will be dropped. The fact the charges were dropped will not be reported anywhere. All of us will forget all about this because of the ever increasingly bigger scandals, none of which will ever be resolved.

    When I think of the fact that 3 to 4 million R voters stayed home last election, refusing to vote for Romney because of their lofty principles, I could just vomit. Romney wasn't my choice either but I am 100% sure we would be far better off today than we are right now if Romney was in office.

    Whether he is convicted or not, his case certainly does illustrate once again the hypocrisy of so many politicians who preach do as I say, not as I do. (Maybe he can claim it's all a misunderstanding because he was part of Fast & Furious.)[:(]
