It's 99 degrees here in Bagdad, and the A/C in my room decided it wanted to take a crap last night and stop working.

Well you just march right in to your C.O. and you tell him that Doug Wilson - who pays his salary - will not tolerate him treating one of Doug's Soldiers that way. And, if he doesn't go fix it RIGHT NOW, Doug is going to take the matter to your boss's Command Authority.

That's always what I told my Military Sons, and it must have worked, because I never heard about the matter again.

Only 99? Try 125 degrees in the shade (Saudi Arabia, 2002)

Yeah, I know. 99 is pretty darn hot when you're trying to sleep. Bummer Dude. Been there, done that. MY 99 degree nights were in the dorm at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. Hot is Hot. Hope they get the A/C fixed soon.

Okay, I feel for you (discomfort). But at least you're not outside the wire in the same weather.

Given the choice, I'll take being inside the wire at the drop of the hat. Best, Joe

When it was 99 degrees in Asia, there was no A/C in the barracks to fix.

When we got thinned out, the rest of us got 2 hours of sleep at night.

That was right when we were down to one meal a day.

    Different Army, maybe.

It was cooler inside the Humvee in full rattle outside the wire today.

Yeah, but on the other hand, we did have luxurious steel pots.
