In OryGun, when one has certain disabilities, the threshold for the use of deadly force is sometimes much lower than it is for able-bodied Men. As many of you know, I have a number of afflictions that put me in this realm. My heart is diseased, and functions at between 15 and 20 percent of that of a normal Man?_Ts . I have an implanted defibrillator and pacemaker, and live in Congestive Heart Failure.

I have three roommates - David (57), Eric(30), and Eric?_Ts girlfriend Judy, who turned 23 yesterday.

Eric had to work last night, so Judy went out with friends to celebrate her day, saying she?_Td be home by 11PM.

At 1 AM, there was a commotion in the drive - loud voices, loud exhaust, and barking neighbors?_T dogs. We live in an isolated grouping of 3 or four homes, down a private gravel road, so this was not only unusual, but had never happened before.

It was Judy?_Ts return, with two men and a female co-worker. All very drunk, and no designated driver. Both the guys were in their late 20s and VERY large - around 6?_T4, 6?_T5 and 350 plus pounds. By the way - Eric is 6?_T2 and 250 and I?_Tm 5?_T8 and 170. The group staggered to the back door, yelling at each other and playing grab-*. It is the agreed policy of our group of roomies that no one comes in the house as a guest, without the approval of the other roomies.

Eric got up to meet Judy at the door, while all this was going on - thumping and banging about on the deck, loud voices - From the noise, it seemed like a lot more people. I became adrenaline charged and walked to the door behind Eric with my pistol in my hand, not having any idea of the intent of all these noisy people, but unwilling to go down without a fight. (It?_Ts not the size of the dog in the fight - it?_Ts the size of the fight in the dog). Judy came through the door cursing and yelling and pushed past Eric, with the two big guys right behind her. They approached Eric with obviously evil intent, and I yelled ?_oStop !!?__ They saw the pistol in my hand - I don?_Tt think they even realized I was there until I yelled - and immediately went back outside, jeering and yelling.

Crises over.

I?_Tm contemplating further action because I don?_Tt feel anyone should instill fear in me in my own house. Judy and the other woman, as well as one of the men, all work at the same place, and I?_Tm inclined to call the owner, who I know, and tell him about these events. It?_Ts pretty certain that at least the guy would be terminated, and maybe the women as well.

I filed no police report, and the four of them left, driving drunk.

Judy will no longer be living here, or allowed in the house without Eric or a Policeman accompanying her. I have removed her alarm code.

So what are your opinions ??

Action, or forget about it ??

Thank you.

Doug

If there are weird letters, I don't see them when I read it.

I wrote this using Works Word Processor, so they may be formatting codes from there.

I wonder why I don't see them when I look at it.

    Is it readable ??

    Thank you.

I dont think there is anything you can do. They were invited by someone who lives there. Also they left when told. As for driving drunk there is nothing that can be done. No proof. The only person that could get in trouble is you. Pulling a gun on someone invited in by someone that lives there is a no no. What was the evil intent? Were they threatning anybody. Thats the problem with roomates. I do not see how what they do off work will get them terminated. Why try to get them in trouble. The guy probaly thought he was getting ready to get laid. Then you pull a gun on him.

You copied and pasted that from another media. Hence the control codes showing.

What you do about the incident is up to you.

I cut your post way down but alot of the words that I left are crazy looking characters. The first word is (Man then 2 weird characters with a TM symbol then a s). The words that are red are messed up when I view them

    Surprising how often that happens.

Yeah, your roomate invited two drunk rowdy friends over late at night, well, that is what young people do.
Now they think of you as "that crazy old guy with the pistol."

You need to get into a new roomate situation, perhaps, you should move out.
Stick with the 57 year old roomates, you are just not going to get along with the young wild *.

First - I read nowhere in the story that "Judy" invited ANYONE else into the house. The guys followed her in.

Second - Doug defended his home from an invasion by his perception. And thusly cut a "loose cannon" from the fold.

Thirdly - enuff has been done - let it go now.

I guess in a word...Judy sounds like trouble and Eric sounds like he needs to move on without her. The whole household sounds like it would fair better without her. If you felt endangered, then you had full right to draw your weapon.

Don't see any strange characters, even on the words you copied.

Oh, well - I won't do that again.

As far as what I did, I had the pistol in my hand, pointed at the floor. Never pointed it at them or waved it around. I didn't brandish it. And I often have a firearm in my hands at home. I did feel threatened when they started to push past Judy - she didn't invite them in.

Judy is history, so that drama will be gone.

Thinking it over, I'm not going to pursue it any farther.

The situation ended to my satisfaction.

Now all I have to do is deal with the anger of my neighbors and apologize to them for the disturbance.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

    Any other comments are welcome.

    Doug, it is still there.

Type the word "Erica" by itself. And let's see.

All of the weird words end with an "a" with a little line over it, a weird looking "C" wtih a trademark symbol beside it.

I don't know your reasons for having roommates, be it financial or whatever, but I sure wouldn't let a bunch of drunks into my home. If Erica doesn't pay rent, toss her out.

Doug, good choice to let it go and not get employer involved as I'm sure employer dosen't care what happens off company property and company time.

Get pissed if you want Doug but you better grow up a little. If you must have room mates stick with people your own age. With your medical problems you should get enough Social security and medicare that you don't HAVE to have room mates. You probably have a pension also so you must just want the company. I can understand that but not with young people. Not only that but if it was me I would be trying to feel of Judy's butt all the time!! [:D]

    Doug,

Are your liability and renter's insurance rates real resonable? Do you live in a good neighborhood?

Your stories are good, but I get scary when I read them.[;)]

Rosie - Without roommates, I'd be back living in my car.

I don't think my arms will stretch wide enough to grab Judy's butt.

I also like being around young folks - I had Kids in my house for almost 40 years, and I really enjoy them. I think it keeps my mind alert.

MBK "Your stories are good, but I get scary when I read them."

My stories are scary ?? I don't understand.

Care to expand on that ??

Thanks everyone for your feedback - I think it helped me reach the right conclusion.

Judy screwed up bringing people over without everyones permission.
Judy is going out on her boyfriend eric?
It's a weeknight, and Judys got a loud mouth, and a loud crowd
with her. Kick Judys tushy out. Find some roommates that can
hold their liquor without acting like donkeys.
Eric needs to find an older g.f. with some brains.
Be safe Doug, there are some sick puppie meth heads out there
now that will sell their momma.

Thanks, mouse. I almost always have a firearm either in my hand or in very close proximity.

Hell, I didn't know who those guys were.

If Judy has clothes in the house and has lived there without having another residence then she is a tenant with or without a lease and can't be kicked out at will.
You must first give her an eviction notice.

Doug, get a good taser, big bottle of bear pepper spray, baseball bat or whatever but please do not shoot a human being with your gun. It is not worth it to you, them or us.
