.....a MIG-17 fly over our house. [:0]
I was outside trying to discourage the Phoebes from building a mud nest on our front and back porches (a story in itself) when I heard an unusual sounding jet approaching. I looked up and there was no mistaking the bottom view of the nose intake and the style of the dramatically sweptback wings. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to grab my camera and it didn't make a second pass. On a positive note, it didn't strafe us, so I guess obama hasn't outsourced his dirty work yet!
Our local airfield has a collection of old military aircraft, including a MIG-17F that is in flying condition, so I need to find out if that's the one I saw! It was a pretty neat sight!!!! [8D]

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

fell off the wagon again, huh?[;)]Well, I did have 3 glasses of Merlot last night; perhaps there was a delayed reaction! [:0][:D]

If I had the time and money for an old war bird, I think that for a jet, an A4 would be what I'd want, for a prop job, a P47 woul dbe to my liking.
Didn't you think that cardinal you saw last week was an F-22?[:0][:I][:I] Well, that has nothing to do with what I saw today! [:D]

Oh,....a blue jay this time?[:D]
Every once in awhile, guessing training, you see a MIG always painted white skip in and out.
My favorite is when they bring the boys in to practice carrier landings. about 10-12 in the air doing touch and goes at dusk, I love seeing my tax dollars at work [;)]

Maybe a grain of truth in above.....dunno. Joe
Some of those old war birds have found their way to the open market where fols with some spare change are buying them up. Read an article in an old aircraft magazine not long ago, there are a few MIG 17s in private hands, in the US. I'm thinking you saw one of them.

I want a P51.
Man, could I have some fun in that thing.

Any airshows in your area ????Not that I'm aware of. I think they might have taken the MIG-17F that's part of our local Air Museum out for a spin!
I'll check the paper tomorrow to see if there were any Red Dawn alerts for the area today! [:0]

These fly.

Doug..are they kept up in Airworthy condition? Annuals, and AD upgrades? Thanks, Joe
I live in the landing path of Carswell NAS, and we get all kinds flying over for training. When we lived in Lancaster, CA we got to see the SR-71 and U2 takeoff and land quite often at Rockwell's facility in Palmdale; the B1 too. They were neat to watch!!!

Here...keep this handy. [;)]
PB Picture removed.
Thanks Ram; that's the silhouette alright! Other than today, the only time I've seen a MIG in the air was on radar in the Tonkin Gulf; and they were just a couple of thin lines with F4's in hot pursuit! [:D]

If you live near Branson, MO. I know the Blue ANgles were in town for an air show this weekend. Couldn't tell you what type of aircraft they fly as I spent much of my misguided youth in a garage playing with mouse motors and rat motors lisening to the Temptations, James Brown and the such.
Pretty sure the Blue Angels DO NOT fly soviet-era communist-built aircraft, but that's just a hunch. [;)]
Probably just another senior moment. [;)]Perhaps; I seem to be having those a little more often! [:D]
