Why would they wait, the pro -2nd is in the majority, and includes the cheif, based on the oral arguments.
Why keep delaying? are they waiting until after the election (but before the next pres takes power?), do they have handlers trying to keep the issue out of the public eye?
Or do they want to wait for barak to appointa liberal justice, and let the 2nd become meaningless? do they only *pretend* to support the 2nd's real meaning?

Heller will be issued this week for sure. It may be that the dissenting judges wanted more time to write their handwringing, Chicken Little, guns are awful dissenting opinion. The majority would allow them the time to do that.

Heller is the last case left over from March arguments. Wednesday may be the day. I sure don't know.

They are probably trying to figure out how to say, The second amendment is about individual rights, but.............

Hard for me not to hold my breath about now...all of our lives hinge on this decision - either it is about to get a little (as little as they can allow) better, or it is going to get a lot worse to be an American. IMHO

Agree sarge. Bottom line though, if the antis want gun bans, background checks,or ccw they need to change the Constitution. Shall not be infringed.......a NICS phone call, filling out a 4473 is an infringement on my second amendment.

When does the session end? I thought they had to issue the ruling by today.

I find it odd that the anti's want to "stop gun violence", but their only solution is to take away guns. nothing at all to address the behavior.

They're trying to work out the final "spin" on the ruling. When's the last time you saw 9 lawyers agree on anything?

They are the Supreme Court. They will decide when they want too. I would not be surprised on another delay ruling.

This is exactly what they are trying to do IMNSHO. They want to make it clear that Americans DO have a right to keep and bear arms, individually. However, they also want to place a "reasonable" limit, just as what exists with the First Amendment (you can't yell "Fire" in a crowded theater when there is no fire).

The DC ban is going down. The question becomes, what is a "reasonable" regulation?

And, before anyone jumps on me, I'm saying this from a SCOTUS point of view, not my own personal point of view.

In the 40s 50s 60s if the kid back talked, you could smack em in the head and the problem was solved. now if you even yell at your kid they're on the phone doing 911 and I'M BEING ABUSED! If you swat your kid now you go to jail....domestic violence, I know this first hand, my 15 yr old stepson was burning old girlfriend pics in the bathroom, I found the remnants on the floor, called him on it, he swung first and the fight was on, cops got called and his story was better than mine, I went to jail. the ADA talked to the kid and found out he was doing the wrong and the case was dropped,,,to the tune of $700, bail and lawyer, loss of my guns for 6 months til the case was dropped. the kid went back to his Dad and 2 months later him and a buddy went on a tire slashing spree, 10k worth of tires, he went to juvie and Dad says I won't hit him and I could'nt control him. the kid has grown up since then, he does respect the stepdad, because I stood up to him. that was 8 yrs ago, now he has agirlfriend with 13yr old twins, he tells me, I can see your point on things, rasing kids is a *.

    +1

They are going to have to tread lightly here...although, I'm almost certain that they will be dealing a blow to the 2nd Amendment. States are ready to succeed from the Union over this issue.

So far I've only seen one state even make that threat.

Even then, the saber-rattling of a few political leaders doesn't provide an actual measure of the feelings of Montana's citizenry.

You really don't have a clue...do you.?.? You have no understanding of the mindset of the folks out here.

eric, that wasn't meant as an attack. You can save your indignation for global warming and the idaho wolf. [:)]

If you go back through the archives you'll see I've voiced (several times) support for those who have made statements concerning secession.

I'm from Eastern Kentucky, remember? We value our guns as much as people from Montana do.

My point was that other than the comments of a few political leaders in Montana, I haven't seen any polls indicating what level of support the people in Montanta (or any other state) are showing for secession.

I'm from back east...and I can assure you that you really do not have an understanding of the mindset of the folks out here. I can also assure you that the people of Montana (and Idaho) do support the ideals espoused by their leaders on this matter. The folks out here are a different breed...you would not understand it unless you lived it.

BTW...we don't need polls out here either...[;)]

ECC: You really thing the people of those states are willing to give up billions of federal dollars for roads, schools, hospitals, postal services, etc.? I doubt it. Succession from the union will remain a pipe dream of the extreme minority that support it. Sorry, that's a fact.

Oh, and I watch and read the news daily. Who has reported on this matter? I'd be interested to know.
