Cat-mechanic(or anybody with Caterpillar engine knowledge) The socket/allen wrench combination tool for moving the rack stop in a 3406B.... the socket portion is 7/16(I think), do you know what size the allen wrench is?. I need to power up an engine, so am gonna make the tool.

    You are probably right with the 7/16" part, I will make sure for you though.

    Do you have an engine serial #?

    Cat-mechanic thanks for the response. Sorry, negative on the s/n. A friend just called me on the phone last night wanting me to unlame one of their dump trucks.

    The actual part #'s for the rack tools are 6V2104 for the allen wrench and 6V2105 for the socket.

    The allen is $3 and the socket is $60. I could not get the actual socket size, but the allen is a 3/32. The socket will either be 7/16" or 3/8".

    Let me know how it works out. I'm not very experienced on the older stuff. Most of the engines I deal with I just hook up a laptop and the thing tells me what is wrong.
