Old Video games.....re-buying some I liked

When I was younger I didn't care much for these things. My brother had a Nintendo, but I didn't really like that sort of thing.

When my kids were little we started getting them some games. I don't know if the Nintendo 64 was the first system they had, but it is the first one I remember really getting into. I loved the Zelda...Donkey Kong....Mario...type games. It was all downhill from there.

I have had my own systems since then. The kids have THEIR games and I have MINE!

It wasn't that way so much in the beginning.....and since we all shared things a lot of games went missing. I went out and bought a Nintendo 64 a while back and I've bought several games that I remembered liking. The one problem I have is that it doesn't like modern TV's. I bought the cords that will work to get it hooked up....but it looks like total crap on the big flat screen.

So, some time in the future I will be heading to a thrift store to buy an old console type TV. Yeah....its pretty sad when you have to go find a 20 year old TV for your video games. I think something might be wrong with me! [:D]

Before anyone goes bonkers telling me what all IS wrong with me.....I don't get to actually PLAY these things. I'm too dang busy. I just remember these were awesome to take my mind off things and give you a little mental break from the world. One day.....maybe....I will get to play them again.

Video games are one thing I never got into.As a kid, they did not even exist.Even if they did,I had better things to do outside.I was an avid deer, small game and duck hunter. In the summer I competed in trap and skeet shooting.
To this day I am so bad at video games,I don't even try to play them.

I just did that about 6 months ago! I broke out the Nintendo 64, plugged it into one of the new TVs and it wouldn't work, So I went out to the storage shed and pulled out the old TV and hooked it up.

I played Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time and it only took me about two weeks. It took me about two months when I first got it for my Son!

Oh...I'm not good at them....its more the "escape" that I go for. The games I tend to play are the ones that have large open maps with a lot of things to do.

One game called Pikmen is a good example. You get these little guys that are different colors....you can have a certain number of them in your group. Each color does different things....blue are water...red, fire...yellow, electric...and so on. You have to grow them by collecting prizes around the map. The prizes are hidden around in areas that the various pikmen can get to...but only if you use the right colors. It sounds pretty silly...but getting those silly pikmen across water, fire, electric gates to collect a prize can make you forget all about the stupid crap going on around you.

I haven't seen a reason to buy the XBox1 yet, but I got the PS4 because this Legion game looked pretty awesome. I was pretty disappointed when playing for an hour and still hadn't really gotten into any game play....walking down stairs, talking to characters....its sitting over there if I ever have time to waste and want to give it a second try. I have bought all of the other consoles when some game came out I really wanted to give a try. I just have a few of them saved....PS3, Xbox, Xbox360, Wii, WiiU, and the Nintendo 64 are all at the top of the stairs in the area where the TV is up there. I have a small pile of games that go to each one that are "mine"....the kids know not to take these off now. Back when they were younger games went to every buddy's and relatives houses. I think I supplied all of Blount County in video games for several years.

I have the original xbox and xbox 360. Love them. Remember pong when it first came out??? When Donna and I first got married, we would sit up all night and play Mario, until we had to go to work. We would have marathons all weekend long[;)][^]

If you like a game that will immerse you in another world, almost infinite, with a hundred tasks to perform, each of whose outcome varies depending upon the choices you make, hours and hours of escape from this world, take a look at "Skyrim" for your PS3.

Oh yeah....did that one....got the dragon scale armor...joined every guild except the vampire one. That was a funny one. I told Shelby and Jimmy we were taking a "long weekend" when that one came out. I seriously gave them the day off.

..We still have a working Atari 2600....somewhere. I'd sit up all night playing Space Invaders. I don't know how many joysticks I wore out. Grandson has all kinds of Xbox and Play Station stuff that I don't understand, much less know how to hook up. I'm tech stupid.
..There's a Wii here for him that I can play bowling and shooting games. Those ducks and aliens move fast! That's the extent of my game knowledge.
