Granted,I will see it from about 100 mi. away but, it's still quite a show. The Delta 4's put off a TON of firelight![8D]

Yes, those near-sunset launches are SPECTACULAR!
I'll only get to see it via webcast. Damn, I miss being there at spitting distance.
Especially with solid strapons. This one will have four. Hope the weather improves over today.

I lived in Cocoa for a couple years and got to see a few shuttles and some,I believe Atlas and Deltas.
I used to ride my Schwinn to the launches and found I could get out of there and home, way faster than in a vehicle..
I'll be watching NNE sky from Jupiter tomorrow.
BTW Rocky,I noticed U have subscribed to Kiwi guy and Gundogs pages on Utube..I have been watching their channels non stop for a few days.
I think I will subscribe to them as well.
strapons? In public! [:0] WoW SCOTUS really did livin things up
Anther prolific reviewer is Alduin Heath, but I dislike his incessant use of profanity. I'm no prude, but I don't enjoy listening to profanity.
Back on topic.
Launch windows are calculated on a bewildering number of variables, including the final orbital numbers, the time the satellite has
in battery power before it can open its solar panels and not be in Earth shadow, the calculated orbit of any space debris along the ascending path, solar radiation forecasts, and lots more. Weather is actually one of the last things to be considered.
I'll be watching from 150 miles away. Big Roman candle in the sky. We get a heat wave about 45 minutes after the blast off usually.
WOW!! I must be a lot farther away than you Gary.If U live in Orlando, you're closer than me.I am at LEAST twice as far away than U are..
I would have loved to have seen one of the Saturn V Rocket launches. It's still the biggest rocket ever launched with the heaviest payloads. Wernher von Braun was a genius no doubt.
We went 3 times as a kid to try and watch Saturn V and 3 other times for shuttles as an adult and they either got delayed beyond what we could stay for OR twice it did go up but there was a large cloud between me and the launch.
One of these days.....

I live 1 hour north of Orlando but still close enough to see it clearly. I'm at WDW from 22:00 to 07:30 most days.

Then I am prob. about twice as far away than U are.If it's clear out,I can still see it pretty good too.Hope U get a good look tomorrow!!

You may be waiting a long, long time. I really doubt that modern day NASA could even build a Saturn V Rocket today. Everything I've read about them launching lately hasn't even gotten out of the Earth's atmosphere before it blows up.
That's a shame but how can we afford space travel if we're going to keep Air Force One and it's entourage in the air constantly flying Obama and his family and friends to all parts of the world to party?
Delta and Atlas will shake your liver inside you. Literally. You FEEL them go.
The Shuttle moved the ground under you. That's not an exaggeration. The grandstands shook, and you could see ripples on water if the wind was calm. And you feel ALL your internal organs moving.
It's the deepest, sub-sonic (low frequency) rumble you can imagine, superimposed with gunshot-like cracks and snaps.
On the other comment, I have to once again emphasize that NASA doesn't launch ANYTHING now. There are no NASA rockets at all. All launches now are by three corporations who sell launch services to various customers. Those three are Orbital Sciences, United Launch Alliance, and SpaceX.
NASA contracts with one or more of them to launch a NASA payload at times, but that's it. It's no different than you shipping something via UPS, FEDEX or USPS.
