I've been looking in on GunBroker forums for a while now. Just thought I'd say hello. My user name is supposed to be Phishphan because I like the band Phish, but I must have missed the third h, So now I'm just plain phishpan. I have a lot to learn about guns and shooting and I know that I will learn a lot here.

I've been lurking here for the past several months after finding this forum while doing a search for some information on a recent purchase. I find a wealth of information and frequent lively discussions here. I'm not always in agreement with some of the politics, but, I do believe sincerely in everyone's right to have an opinion and express it (in accordance with the guidelines set by the ownership of this site). This is a great site and I appreciate the opportunity to participate.

I'm back. I'm tired. I'm sore. I'm grouchy. I'm smelly. And I'm going to bed within the next 30 minutes.

My local FFL dealer (Thunderbolt) told me about this place last week and suggested I put up a post to introduce myself. I just turned 50 and live in the upper East end of Tennessee near the Virginia border. I work for a tele-communication company, a rural cooperative actually. I shoot skeet and trap more than anything else and do some shotshell reloading. But I do enjoy shooting about anything that don't kick so hard it hurts...however, I do have a decent pain tolerance.[;)] My wife and I both have our carry permits. I think this place is great. It's nice to be able to ask questions and get good advice from voices of experience. You guys are to be commended for giving of your time to all us novices. And I can't believe the generousity so many of you display with all the give-aways I've seen. I appreciate the opportunity to interact with such a great group of people. Thank you.

    Addition:
Shilowar: Kingsport actually...15 more minutes down the road. I used to drive through Shenandoah Valley a lot when I lived in Baltimore for a few years. Beautiful country rich in history, for sure.

I have already checked out the Ask the Experts forum. It is so wonderful to have access to the opinions, experience and knowledge. You could charge a membership fee. A lot of other hobbies, interests and endeavors just don't seem to have the comaraderie and genuine care/concern for others with like interests. Gun owners are a great bunch of people...for the most part anyway (and then we have you guys [^]). Seriously, thanks for the warm welcome and acceptance. I appreciate it and will endeavor to make others feel this welcome.

Welcome to Gun Broker forums Phishpan. You have good taste in music, even if your typing leaves something to be desired. [;)][:D]

    Welcome.

I worked a Phish concert once, back when small colleges could afford to hire them. I (at that point about 165lb) was the stage bouncer, and at that time and in that place I could manage it:

ME: "Ummm....you can't be up here."
CONCERT-GOER: "OK, a**hole." LOL, it really was like that.

For various reasons, we couldn't allow alcohol at that particular show, which was unusual on our campus. People were VERY upset about that:

CONCERT-GOER: "This is the most uptight Phish concert I've ever seen!"

I didn't have an answer for that.

Mostly I spent most of the show trying to keep the drummer's fan upright, because it kept falling over.
