I saw one the other day, all black, rails on it.
Who makes it, whai caliber.
Reminds me of the rifleman. Should be good for home defense

I think my next project will be a Blunderbuss with a green laser site and a front vertical handle with a candle holder for night ops

    This one? It's a Mossberg .30-30. [xx(]

Where is the trhow up icon?
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

does anyone own one? How's it handle?
When I don't want to leave one of my nicer guns in my truck, I was thinking of
Getting one for my truck gun.

I've heard the model 94 referred to as a "Hillbilly Assault Rifle". When I think about it, the Mossberg pictured makes all the sense in the world for folks who live where Evil Black Guns are hard to find or difficult to buy.

That rifle looks like a fast-handling, versatile workhorse that could be used in the woods or in self-defense situations.

I think it's ugly. But I think AR's are inherently ugly.

    Each to his own taste.

That thing is down right FUGLY! Lever action 30-30 makes a great defense gun. I don't think that Mossberg can do anymore than a wood stocked 94 can.

That being said I own a Stoeger "Double Defense" in 20 gauge. And absolutely love it. Everyone that shoots mine does. It's the sxs with the light rail.

I have room in my truck box, I don't want to put one of my expensive guns in it, but I think I can use it and keep it out of the weather.

Try a Marlin 1895 in 45/70 with HOT handloads. You can put your fist clean through the hole and never touch the sides. Dave

The only thing that one of those collapsible AR 15 stocks should be on is well an AR. I don't like them on shotguns AK's or anything other then what they were intended to go on. But that's just my opinion yours may vary.

That has got to be the most hideous thing I have ever seen, I'm waiting for someone to mount a 37mm to the bottom

Doesn't make any sense to me. IMO it's just a way to sell a cheaper made gun for more money.
You can buy a beat up post 64 Winchester for around $200. if you shop around. Duracoat it yourself and have a truck gun that is probably stronger and will function just the same.

    Brownie
Instead of the Mossberg AR variant of the 30-30, shop around for a used Marlin (older JM stamped model).

Have it coated with duracoat in color of your choice and you can even spray the wood. It will be a nice truck gun.

If you want it short, then look for the Marlin 336Y model out now (Youth with 16.25 barrel) and do the same if need be.

There is even a nice 18.5 inch version with a large loop lever on it (336BL).

I have a really nice 336SDT (stainless, straight grip, laminate stock, 16.25 inch barrel) that is the perfect packing rifle and handles quickly.

Exactly, and with a better range of ammo choices, .357, .44 mag, etc. Mine is a trapper model in .45 Colt., compact and a hoot to shoot.

..Gawd, that's ugly. Reminds me of one of those Co-Pilot levers on Wild West Alaska. They fitted one with a huge night vision device,
flashlight and a laser, defeating the intended "small & handy" that
    it was meant to be.

I've been working on a "Tactical" Marlin 336 for some time now. It's finally being treated to a Cerakote finish in Graphite Black with grey barrel bands, lever and hammer. The wood has been stained black with a Cerakote satin clear coat for durability and weather resistance. It will be fitted with a XS Sights rail for mounting a Vortex red-dot and Williams Firesight ghost ring iron sights. I hate the term of "tactical" applied to a lever gun, but this rifle will be a durable, functional and purpose built patrol rifle. I'll post pics when she's done.

The late Jeff Cooper used to suggest that a short lever carbine in a pistol caliber might be good for people living where semi-autos are banned. I have worked with such guns enough to know that with practice one can fire off a magazine load in a hurry with good accuracy at sane distances.

All I did on this was add sling swivels for carry. Some high visibility sights might be a good idea. Beyond that I don't think it needs anything else to be a good close range anti personnel weapon. It launches 240 grain JHPs at a clocked 1980 FPS and that should settle anyone's hash right now. Recoil is very manageable and fast shooting is easy. Very compact with the 16" barrel, no magazine or bolt or charging handle protruding.

Stick with my 94 and Marlin 444 in stock length. If I need something short I will grab one of the Pistols I have or my 870.

..If we could just get rid of the safety buttons (lawyer buttons)
on those Trapper models, they'd be perfect.
