I have a KaBar I use for deer hunting but the leathers are starting to break out does anyone know how to remove the end cap on the handle so I can fix it I dont want to get rough with it untill I know what I am doing. I sure don't want to ruin it because I brought it back from nam

Was on the phone with Pa when Chris told him about this post. Didn't think about it then...I too have one that needs the same thing Tim. Was my FIL's, carried it across N. Africa.

Seems you need to go in the knife repair bus. at home...could then buy more guns! [;)]

Apologise for jackin' your post bg,
but also Pa, my dealer just quoted me $530 for a pair of the Keltec P11PK's with the beltclips thrown in. [:D]Happy days!

Jerry: thats a hell of a deal!!! Buy them!!!

If the knives are the U.S.M.C. Kabar I can take them into the plant get the leather replaced, and a factory sharpening and all it will cost ya is the shipping! It takes a special press to hammer on the leather! We have a special machine to crack the knob. You will get the knife back in original condition, good as new!

I've got an original WWII Ka-Bar, too. Leather is still pretty good. Could be the oil from my hands keeps it in good shape. I dunno'

    Pa,
mine is stamped CAMILLUS, with NY under that.

Is this a forerunner of Kabar?
A "copy" made during WWII for the troops?

It has the saw blade back or spine. Sure looks like a Kabar.
BTW, he was army, not USMC.

mudge, this one just has the first leather (closest to the handguard) cracked and missing a small piece. The entire handle is very dark like it's been rubbed with some type of oil or something.

pabooger I was in the Navy and this is what was issued to us It looks exactly like the KaBar in your picture except it does not have USMC on the blade. Instead the handguard has KaBar on side and the other side has USN mk2 will you still be able to help me
