This slug gun is in very good shape and has been modifed to reduce recoil and muzzle jump. If the auction closes without bids the gun will not be relisted, I'll take it to the big Indy Gun show this weekend.

    uh im no expert but um dont ''smooth bore'' mean that its not a rifled slug barrel to start with ?

    and id like to know where you can buy a brand new 500 slug gun for 165.00 plus s/h ???

    Looks like a solid gun. I'd jump on it but I have a smooth-bore set up for slugs already and it groups really well with inexpensive Winchester rifled slugs.

    If it is a slugster barrel then it is rifled. If it is smoothbore then porting helps. So which is it.

    BTW I can buy them all day long at walmart and at most pawn shops. ESP after deer season.

    It is clearly labeled "12 GA-24 IN SLUGSTER" and it is a smooth bore. The porting is to reduce muzzle jump, the reaming of the forcing cone is to reduce recoil.

    Gee, maybe that's why I put it on the block before deer season?

    I'll sell it at the gunshow tomorrow for cash and maybe get $200 out of it.

    Removing the cones often weakens the barrel, trapshooters often do it but they shoot reduced loads. On a slug gun, I would be very leary of it.
