Advice Installing A Rail Mount to Wilson Protector

Hello All,
I have a Wilson Combat Protector and I was thinking about installing a Cylinder & Slide Frame Rail Mount. The purpose, to have a great 1911 home protection 45.
Do I want to add a $22.50 part to my $1,700 gun if it will reduce the value? Any thoughts? Will this modification make the gun worthless? I don't plan on selling it so could it hurt? Should I have this done to one of my low end Kimbers such as Pro Tac II or Gold Match?
