I was walking around my yard yesterday and could'nt believe my eyes, laying right in the middle of my yard was a shed. It was a little forkhorn with a brow tine about a half a inch. I've scoured the woods and have never found one and behold theres one in my yard.

A dead intruder cannot testify against you in a court of law!

If they're still moving, put another round in them!

Tis the season. I've found a few and am going looking tomorrow in an area where there may be a moose shed or two. Mice will chew sheds up pretty fast once it begins to warm up. 40s in central/northern Maine tomorrow.

Aint that always the way. About ten years ago I had a huge buck,at least 170 class in my estimation, hanging out around one of my stands. Never got a shot at him but saw him at least a dozen times. I looked high and low for those sheds after the season. Never found them. The next fall I was hunting small game in the same area. I walked into some heavy brush and low and behold there was one side of the big guys rack still intact after all that time. It was big enough that I put it inside my jacket and it wraped around my waist with room to spare. The very next day some low life poached him. Killed him dead with a 12 gauge field load to the head.[:(!]

We usually find a few each year with tractor tires. Found a set last year with the two bucks tied togethr entangled in baler twine at the antlers. It was a shame too because they were both nice bucks. Don

I found a huge shed about ten years ago while rabbit hunting.Went out the next weekend looking for the other side and found a smaller one from a different deer about 100 yards away. The other side of the huge shed antler turned up at the neighbors farm auction a few years ago. I bid on it ,but another guy bid it up to a ridiculous price.
The last shed I found was a few years ago while turkey hunting.I was standing in a fence row about to relieve myself.I put my gun down and had my hand on.......well something else, when I looked down at the area I intended to water I saw the antler.

Although I have found a few fresh sheds in the woods,I have found quite a few old sheds during the summer in the open hills off eastern Washington with my Binoculars. After the hot sun bleaches them white they are easy to pick out, in the brown/green backround, from the ridge tops.A lot of times they are just bones ,but some days I do pretty good.

Thanks for the reminder... I'm gonna head out and do some fishin' here soon and I'll take the scenic route to see what I can find.

It wasn't a shed, but the one in the front was found during the off-season. I assume someone shot him and couldn't find him. There was some damage from mice/rats. The other two are my two biggest Kansas bucks (out of 3 antlered deer I've taken).

I haven't found a matching set yet this year, but I'm still looking. Got a buddy that trains chocolate lab pups to retrieve sheds. He has bundles of them hanging everywhere, couldn't even guess how many he has. He ends up with an occasional cow hip to. [:)]
