Just at $550.00 Poorer. Motor on the transfer case quit working.

But don't feel to bad about it this is the 3rd time I've been to that shop and this is the 1st time he has charged me. The other 2 visits were for something else.

Also he charged me for the part and labor less than what the part costs at the parts warehouse.

Nothing better than finding a good, honest mechanic.

I don't know the particulars in your case.
    I had a 1998 Chevy Blazer S10 and lost
4wd, the encoder motor was gone and to
make a long story short, I got
a lot of high dollar quotes ,but read
on a forum that sometimes that motor
loses ref to zero (whatever that means).
They told me to try disconnecting the battery
for a few minutes, then reconnect the battery
and start the engine 5 times to reset the computer.
Worked like a charm and functioned great to the day
    I sold it.
I can't believe the chevy mechanics didn't know that?

The one between the transmission and the drive shafts.

Years ago I spent some time with the US Forest Circus and we were out marking timber in the dead of winter. We were about 45 miles south of town in a Suburban and the little electric gizmo that shifted from 4 high to 4 low went out. It was a long drive back to town on icy roads and stuck in 4 low! I am not a fan of electric widgets controlling the transfer case but you can't get away from that anymore.

I wouldn't call them stupid, I'd call them
people who trust their fellow man.
There are way too many dishonest people in
this world, but you know what? ,somewhere ,sometime,
    "What goes around,comes around"!!
