Are there any anemic 223 recipes
that I can run out of my ar to
shoot steel plate at 75yds?
Thanks-Ron

Any particular bullet weight you are looking at?

    Why an 'anemic' load?

    The steel targets are expensive
and the 223 just "craters" them.

If you think those soft steel plates are expensive, buy some hardened steel plates. When I ran our shooting team at work, we had a set of mild steel plates. We ended up cratering them with 5.56 and 7.62 bullets to the point where we were getting lead thrown back at us when we used them for handgun practice.

We bit the bullet (pun intended) and bought hardened plates that could take rifle hits all day without any damage.

If you push .223 fast enough to cycle the action on your AR, they are going to still crater the plates. Make sure your using bullets that will NOT attract a magnet.

    I did, i have a 12" and a 9"
and I am reluctant to shoot anything
    but handguns rounds at them.
Just last week I shot an M1 Carbine at them
    with no issue.
My 12" is at 75yds and the 9" is at 50 yds.
I'm all cleared for 100yds but don't have a backstop
    yet.
