Ive searched dozens of websites (NRA, attorney generals site, LVMPD, and many more...) but cannot find a specific answer, many sites say that its unlawful to sell to someone under 18, others say the buyer must be 21, others say the buyer must have a blue card and register the gun in 24 hours....

my question....

In Nevada (Clark County), how old must a person be to purchase a handgun from a private party?

If someone happens to for sure know the answer, please let me know.

    I'm not 100% on that blue card thing (never really heard of it), however I believe its only in vegas (and almost certain clark county) where you have to register it in 24 hrs at the sheriffs office.

    I believe its only in this area and not any other region of the state. However I'm not too sure about the reno area.

    Pieceofpaper;
    Here is the Nevada rules. click on the link and scroll to page 273. It answers both questions on the same page. Apparently, it is illegal to sell a pistol to anyone 17 years of age or younger and the 24 hour Sheriff notification is the gun dealer's responsibility.

    Correction--if you read further (page 275) the purchaser of a pistol must register the pistol with the sheriff within 24 hours. Anyway, I'm sure your FFL can tell you exactly what you need to do to be legal.

    Thanks Rusty!

    This question doesnt pertain to our deal. My brother was asking me about it because a friend of his whose only 20 wants to buy a handgun and we didnt know the law enough to give him an answer (thats what 600,000 gun laws do to you).

    Thanks again.

    BTW, I wasnt able to send a MO today for the BFR, just as I was about to head down and get it sent, I got a call and had to go to work and wasnt able to make it back in time to send one before the post office closed. I will really really try tomorrow to send one.

    Clark co. has its' own set of rules. As far as the rest of the state 21 and a private sell is private it does not need to be registered. Clark is more in line with Cali.
