Hey Folks,
I was talking pistols with my doctor recently and he asked me for suggestions on what to buy that was compact, small capacity and easily concealed but still have the nessesary stopping power?
I was thinking .380 but I figured I would ask the pro's here on what's new and light weight, unlike my blue 1911a ?
Thanks for any suggestions, AL

I like my Inox Tomcat 3032, but if I didn't care if my gun looked as good as it shot, I'd buy a Kel-Tec 380ACP http://www.kel-tec.com/p3at_pistol.htm
It's 10 ozs. with a full mag and zero in the chamber.
The Tomcat is 16 ozs. UNLOADED, so with 7+1, it is a bit heavier.
Kimber has a 2003 Special Edition '45 out, the Ultra RCP II. They list at $1250, but you might find one for $950...
I really dig the sights on it! .. or lack thereof...

Hey, the Doc can afford anything. I'd say a super-lightweight revolver, a 5-shot .357.
Doc will like something with a reputation for always going "bang".
Easier to clean, not much "break-in" that I'm aware of (unless he is a shooting enthusiast, and wants to put 1000 rounds through his carry pistol to get it "right".
Or a Glock 19...if shot handguns before.
Both simple straigtforward pistols.

I'll show him a print out of all the responses and pictures of the quoated pieces.
I am web searching your suggestions an I like the size and wieght of the Kel-Tec but I like the looks of that Colt II .380 and the Chrome J38 but I plan on checking them all out, even the 5 shot snub nose .357.
He can definately afford any one he likes, so price is no object and I'm sure after fireing most of a box at the range after buying it, I assume it wont get much more the a Bi-Yearly plink and clean.
Top notch, shoots straight, and dissappears in a pocket, that's it.
Much apprieciated, AL
Kingjoey, I guess I could put on my jacket and conceal my shoulder rig and Uzi Pistol.
[:D] Yeah probably, I was eyeballing one of those rigs for my M-11. That'd give a thug a change of thought[;)] I put the DE comment in there because sometimes people ask about compacts and I suggest a Keltec, a Kahr, a Makarov, or one of the micro-Glocks and they turn out to be looking for something sized more like a Walther TPH or Beretta 21. What some people can get away with carrying concealed and what others can varies quite widely depending on size, rig, and clothing.[:D]
PS: Are you gonna post a pic of the shoulder rig?

It is very accurate, quick to first shot, easy to shoot and keep on target.
It is very concealable, printing is not a problem.
It is an extremely safe carry design because of the grip cocker.
He can brag to his frinds at the club that he has the Mercedes of handguns.
Second choice is S&W 340PD Revolver, .357, 2" barrell, with hammer shroud.
It is very concealable, lightweight, printing is not a problem.
It is a extremely safe carry design because it is a revolver.
Accurate enough for the close in self defense work.
Nice round either .357 or 38 Special +P.

The small size of the S&W Chief didn't impress a pair of youths who were out to do me and I came close to having to shoot them. Nevertheless, I have a deposit on a Keltec 380 and cant wait to take possession of it.
The lighter and more convenient a pistol is, the more likely it will be on him when he needs it.
My recommendation to the doctor would be the S&W hammerless airlite Chief in 357 with uncle Mikes boot grips.
Found one here. Is it still made?
http://chris.cc/hkp7/p7m8.htm
Or is it replaced with the USP Compact (in 9mm)
Here's the '45, same gun though, 'cept 3/10" shorter and 2 rounds more.
For an Semi-auto, no one mentioned a P239 in 40S&W.
Or a P-232 in .380?
http://www.sigarms.com/products/classic-personal.asp
Or a http://www.paraord.com/pages/carry.html#carryoption
Still, does he want to deal with a break-in period for his gun?
Don't revolvers usually work right from the box, and there aren't "feed" problems, unless you forget to feed it?[:D]
