Beach pizza shop employee fatally shoots robber, police say
VIRGINIA BEACH
An employee of a Virginia Beach pizza restaurant shot and killed a masked robber who had come in the back of the shop to rob it Saturday night, police said.
The shooting happened about 10:08 p.m. at Dominick's Pizza & Pasta, in the Timberlake Shopping Center in the 4200 block of Holland Road.
Employees had opened the back door to let a breeze come in, and the robber came in the door to the kitchen and pointed a gun at them, said Sgt. Rene Ball of Virginia Beach police.
An employee then shot and killed the robber, she said. No one else was shot.
Detectives and forensic analysts are on the scene this morning to interview store employees and investigate. There was apparently one customer in the restaurant, Ball said.
The name of the man killed was not immediately released.

Almost! It's where I got shipped and received my packages, did my banking and had more than a few brewski's at the local pub. I lived directly across the street.
I hope it ends there as I like a story where the good guy wins. My concern is that the pizza place will fire the guy for having and useing the gun.
Or just having the gun like the pizza hut deal.[:(]

He won't lose his job. Here's a followup story:

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA (WAVY.COM) Just after 10 p.m. Saturday night, employees of Dominic's Pizza & Pasta restaurant on South Plaza Trail and Holland Road in Virginia Beach say a man with a mask on his face, entered the rear of the restaurant and ordered everyone into a back office while pointing a gun.
The owner, Roger Stephens, says one employee was told to open the safe and to hand over the money inside. Instead, Stephens says his employee pulled out the gun that was in the safe and shot the man several times.
Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives were on the scene investigating the shooting and interviewing all the employees who were in the restaurant at the time.
Stephens says this should send a message out to criminals that people are going to protect their property.
the old "hide the gun in the safe trick" still works
Yeah, it's obvious the dead bad guy was not a fan of old gangster movies!!

I saw that trick in a "Bonanza" episode, too. [:D]
the back a door and a pointed a piece at a me. You know a I a pack a heat. He is a bleeding all over my a floor and is not a moving.
This is a prime example of how to deter crime. The only way to deal with violent criminals is to confront them head-on with violence. It is the only language they understand.

The old 'hide the gun in the safe' trick. That's the second time I've fallen for that this month!
