They are worth more than face to a collector. How much more depends on the bill, the condition, and how many collectors are after it.

On its worst day, it is worth face.

    Do a search on Fleabay.

I don't know much either. But, I found out a little while ago that most are just worth the demonination they are.....However, here is a C&P I found......

Can silver certificates be redeemed somewhere for its "silver" value? The answer is no, not for silver dollars and not since the Congress of the United States stopped redemption of silver certificates on June 24, 1968; but the "legal tender" part of the Obligation is still valid, and all the $1, $5 and $10 silver certificates can be spent as regular money.

Since silver certificates are not made anymore, some of them have a premium value to collectors and dealers. For example, if your $1 silver certificate has the date 1928, it is worth about $3 to $5. If it is 1928 with the letter "C" after the date, it is worth about $30. With the series date 1928D, about $20, and with the series date 1928E about $100. Most of the 1934 and 1935 series $1 silver certificates are only worth face value, but can bring a small premium if they are in new condition.

Silver Certificates used to be worth the same amount in silver. Now like nunn said, they are only worth what a collector is willing to pay for it.

Go to the site; type in "silver certificates" as the Search term. Read the first match you get--among others.

I got my hands on two of them a few years ago.
I looked them up on the internet. Value, $2.00 total.

I think that paper money(old) is starting to show more interest to collectors. Your Silver certificates may not be worth much now, but I would bet that they will be worth more in a few years.

7MMNutt; My,..ah...research, yeah, thats it, my RESEARCH indicates the silver certificates are not worth ANYTHING! In fact, if you get caught with them, you have to PAY A FINE! Best send them to me and I will....dispose of them....in some...safe manner.

7mm, send me the date, whose names are on them (treasury and secretary), and the mint. I'll let you know the Value range. Most are only worth something now if they are in perfect condition, but hold on to them, they don't deserve to be back in circulation.
