    Auction said it was parkerized.
    Holster is a fake.

It's listed as parked, and I don't think that was even alive then. IMO I'd stay way away from it.............

Hard to tell, really, with half the pictures being absolutely worthless to judge any detail by.

I am NOT an expert, but I have never seen a Luger in that good a condition that has NOT been refinished. This one, in my uneducated opinion, clearly has been. "Parkerizing" came about in 1919. The process has been around since before then, but if it's really "Parkerized", then it would have had to have been after 1919, so the "1935" could be correct. But even then, it wouldn't be in as nice condition.

I agree...this is clearly a pistol which has been refinished, and is being sold as if it has not been. What does that mean to you? Only you can say.

There are three things in the photos that would make me think it was refinished.
Even if parkerized was a common original finish.

But I suggest you ask the seller.

See what they say and post it up.

At the current bid, it's not going for a "pristine original" price.

    Doesn't look right to me.

My Dad had one he brought back from overseas.

The color is not what I remember. Even the holster should show some fading.

He donated it to a small museum because it was damaged in some way and he didn't think it was repairable.

Looks more like Bead blasted & then a BUBBA finish put on or painted $30.00 holster made in the last ten years It is what it is may be a good shooter.

I have no doubt that the entire guns has been refinished. Small parts are rounded, SN is dished on many parts, rusty barrel has been buffed before refinishing, mags have replacement bottoms, etc.

Seller does not mention import markings (or not), & gun is sold AS IS; that probably means it is import marked. It looks like a "Russian dipped" gun; i.e., captured by the Russians during WW2, thousands were poorly refinished & imported during the late 1990's.

I wouldn't call the holster "fake"; it is a "modern reproduction".

Looks refinished. Lugers were all finished in a beautiful blue. Even when old and worn they don't look flat and lifeless like that Luger.

Thanks for the responses. The finish looks nothing like what's on my G date. I saw this while checking current prices & thought it was "questionable." Hopefully your information will educate buyers. Maybe even the seller.

I have a reproduction holster that looks EXACTLY like that one.
But that pistol is nothing like the S/42 I have.

Original finish was rust blue. The grips are replacements from India.
