Friend Broke My Trailer

I let him borrow my 4ft x 8ft trailer and he somehow broke a weld. I think he put all the weight in the back of the trailer.[V]

The weld was not pretty and i was going to reweld the whole trailer myself but i did not want to do it before i could use it again.

Thats what i use to cut my Moms grass.[:(]

I have not wired my new shop up for a welder yet. I guess i will do that next week.[:(]

Ask the guy that borrowed it to do the right thing and fix it...

Well yes that could happen, however if it was me I would not expect someone to fix(or pay for a fix)on a questionable weld.

Live and learn, that's why I shy away from lending stuff.

If he didn't offered to pay to have it fixed. Or ask you if he could fix it himself for you at the bare minimum, I think calling him a friend would be stretching it...

A real friend would never bring anything back broke...

I would say you got up pretty cheap finding out what type of person your so-called "friend" is

My policy is I don't lend things or money to someone unless I don't care if it is returned.

Bingo....other people don't take nearly as good of care of my stuff as I do.

Ya-Haven't loaned anything to anyone outside the family in many years. I've been asked and I just say NO. I really don't care if they think of me as an * hat but in the past it's been inconvenient & costly and I've just had it.

Takes a real "friend" to borrow something and return it broken....[:(]

Everyone has their thoughts and stories. I don't lend anything to casual acquaintances, but I've found that real friends are few and far between.

So, I would lend a real friend a trailer with a weak weld knowing that it might give way...as long as I told him about it and I thought it was safe for his planned use. If it broke, my real friends would offer to have it fixed. I would decline and break out my welder and repair the trailer...expecting them to help out/buy the beer/do me a favor/just continue being one of my real friends.

I would not let something so simple be the cause of a friendship going south.

I have a hard time saying no to loaning something to people in need even when I know I'll probably come out the loser [:(]. very few times have I been screwed over but it does happen, then I don't forget'em.

There is no way i would let him do any welding for me.

I will weld it next week because its raining all week as of now.

That's why I almost NEVER ask to borrow anything, end of story. I borrowed a sump pump 20 years to drain a septic tank hole before it was to be put in after a rain. YEA, it broke and I bought a new one like I should.
