Sexual identity crisis

We have a four month old (female) puppy who appears to be having a sexual identity crisis. I wish I had video, or at least a picture, but it seems like I never get the good stuff. When she does what the wife calls "number one" she goes into the standard female squat, then hoists one hind leg into the air and does her thing. The wife thinks it's disgusting that I think it's funny.

Today I had her out in the dog lot or dog run or whatever they call a dog lot now days, and she was getting a pretty good workout with a retrieval dummy, and all of a sudden, she got excited, came running over to me, jumped up on my leg, wrapped her front legs around my leg, and started humping my leg as fast as she could. I know this is her way of telling me she is the ALPHA HE DOG and I'm the subordinate, and that behavior has to be corrected as soon as possible, but when I looked down and saw that grin on her face with her tongue hanging out and her full sixteen pound frame humping at ninety miles an hour, all I could do was LMAO. Dogs don't take you very seriously when you can't talk for laughing. I'll start trying to correct her tomorrow.
The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.

I would not be too concerned. dcon12 did the same thing until he was forty-six years old. Perhaps she was bred to be a GB board moderator or Airborne Ranger?

thats a good one RK....after a while she will accept you as the boss but will retain the alpha attitude. those dogs are the best. hard working and loyal....my female still raises her leg to pee and when she's in heat she bumps the male...we always get a full liter and we always limit when hunting
    good luck

yep humping has very little to do with gender, and more to do with dominance.

You should see my friend's female 60lb english pointer hump my 110lb male doberman. He just stands there and takes it with a stupid look on his face.

Humping is just a way of dogs establishing their pecking order (dominance). I've seen plenty of female dogs humping male dogs (or male/male, female/female). Its not really a sexual act.

And some female dogs are "leg lifters".

I wouldn't worry about either one of those things unless you come home one day and catch your Bi-tch watching the Ellen Degeneres show on TV.
